Collaros is a UFA, they were not going to take any UFAs.
I liked what Ottawa did in the first round.
Get 2 QBs who have played in the league. Young and a vet.
Get a LT, who had potential, bit old but he's a OLineman so has few years left.
Get couple of big young receivers.
Get a proven RB and a playmaker.
The 2 DL played a bit last year too so they will help them.
Now they need to go all out on OL/DL in the non-import 2nd round. Get as many as you can that were starters last year or played.
Could be a decent team. I like them more then the Esks/BB right now and they only have some 20 players lol.

Why? He is a free agent and Ottawa has made it perfectly clear they wouldn't be taking free agents. Also add in the fact Collaros wants to give the NFL a shot.

Yeah, it would have been a roll of the dice I realize with Collaros being a UFA.

Collaros has no shot at the NFL. You want a look down south, you should be tearing this league apart and even then it's not a sure bet. See Dickenson and Printers. Collaros is not an NFL QB, and if he thinks someone is giving him a contract based on a fair to middling job of CFL caretaking, he's deluded or his representation is shoddy.

Glenn was the smart, safe pick. I don't see DeMarco as being an 18-game starter in this league -- as a smaller QB, he's got a great mentor to learn from though.
I actually like the Tate/BLM tandem going forward for the Stamps. Will be interesting to see what the competition will be like in camp; I would hope the starting job is up for grabs.

Gosh dang it Ottawa! Shologan? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Who did we protect?
EDIT: Evans must be ready for them to leave Shologan unprotected.

3 FBs? I guess they're trying to fill out their special teams.

Deane is a good pick for them -- only so many non-import OL's we can protect. I think he grew up in Ontario and played at Michigan State as well.

Evans can play ball. I wonder if it came down Shologan and Foley for that 6th spot. As I'm guessing they protected Best, Heenan, LaBatte, Getzlaf, Watman, and than it came down to who they valued more at the DE/DL spot which is rare to see Canadians playing those postions.
Garbage coverage of this draft by the CFL and TSN.

I think those 5 were locks and then I would have protected Shologan, but I'm thinking maybe Taman protected Picard. Keep the O-Line intact as its far easier to find a replacement import DL than a non-import OL (unless your name is Hufnagel). I know Shologan is a non-import but the Riders have some flexibility with where they start non-imports/imports
Lavoie is a great pick for Ottawa. I think he can be a very good FB/TE/Slotback for them for a long time

Agreed, I've always liked Lavoie, in my opinion, Ottawa has done a very nice job with their selections thus far.

Good on James Green, he's been one of my sisters boyfriends since 2006. Great guy and he gives it his all when he's on the field.

Losing J.Michael Deane is not a big deal for the Stampeders. I like him but at least in Ottawa he is going to be a starter. We have other young O-Linemen who can fill in. Spencer Wilson will be a good one.

Best of luck to Deane but Huff planned for this day.
Don't forget last years #1 pick Craighead will also be in camp this year.
Tsoumpas*
Jones*
Gott*
Wilson*
Berger
Peach
Craighead
Federkeil*
Thats already 8. *With 5 of them already starter material. 2 others having spent a full year with the team and the last one was our top pick last year, safe to say we'll be fine at OL.
