His PPG dropped in his draft year, which was already a bad sign, and continues to disappoint.
Hah wow, haven't heard that name in a while. I had to go look it up.. never played a game in the NHL, bounced around the A for a few years before spending the last 2 seasons over seas.
Marian Hossa (Went on to win multiple Stanley Cups)
Pascal Dupuis (Has become an important player for Pittsburgh)
for
Colby Armstrong (Few decent seasons, left as UFA, currently over seas)
Erik Christensen (Nothing for the team, bounced around currently over seas)
Angelo Espisito (0 NHL games, over seas)
1st round pick 2008 draft (0 NHL games, currently ECHL)
Just wow. Sorry to derail, couldn't help myself.

haha didn't realize that guy plays in Austria ... speaks volumes. Probably benefited tremendously from playing with Radulov in his rookie season and never managed to put it together afterwards. Also, what a franchise crippling trade that was for Atlanta ... wow. I had completely forgotten that Dupuis also went Pittsburghs way. Horrible for the Thrashers ... the Kovalchuk trade was similarly bad for them, but at least they managed to get Byfuglien for that 1st later.
The ECHL boys are down 4-0 after two periods. Roy has 18 saves.
Klimchuk still out of Regina's lineup ... it's been a while since he played, huh?
Wouldn't it be sweet if Roy turned out to be a player?
Maybe the Oilers just suck at developing players. I'd like to think that Roy was fine all along and that the oilers have really crappy goalie coaches and the flames don't.

I was just reading an article about the 'Muskoka Five' on the Leafs (guys who wouldn't waive their no-trade clauses so the Leafs could move them from back in the day and they were pointing to this trade as something the Leafs missed out on. Pretty hilarious in hindsight.
Emile Poirier's coming off worse in the battle of the Flames' QMJHL prospects tonight, with a -2 after less than 1 period. Ryan Culkin, on the other hand, is a +3 with 3 assists.

I don't understand exactly how it works, but Pairwise is what the NCAA uses to determine which teams get invited to the final tournament. It uses the teams' records against other ranked teams to rank them based on quality of competition to show which teams are performing the best against the highest competition.

Morgan Klimchuk - injured

College players don't play until the new year
It's been a slow couple weeks.
Will say though, Brett Kulak is having a monster year... another goal tonight gives him 13 on the season. He had only 12 in exactly twice as many games last year. 36 points in 36 games.
It's unfortunate he received zero WJC consideration.

There's been more time when he's been off than on.. Had a good stretch to open last season, but he's gonna be hard pressed to get an entry-level contract at this rate.

When you draft a guy in the late rounds, they're often guys with obvious deficiencies that have something that you like buried inside somewhere.

The nice thing about the NCAA route is he still has 2+ years left if he wants.

I remember he was great in their playoffs. Wasn't he super 'clutch' then?
Anyways, like others have said - he is a 7th rounder, and they always have a lot more holes to their games that require time to fill in.
A good question to ask is if his role has changed at all? Sometimes that happens, and a young player ends up taking more responsibilities and has to play against tougher competition, or a particularly helpful linemate graduated. I have no idea if anything has changed, or he is just merely not having a particularly good season - but would be interesting to know.

There's a lot we can't see at college level, line wise, injuries, distractions, etc. I'll hunt around and see if there is any articles or interviews with him this season.

Probably shouldn't have been partying in Delta if he wanted WJC consideration. I think they take that kind of thing very seriously.
What are the chances of the Giants trading him this season?

yup. Culkin is having another good season as well, by the way ... he often seems to get forgotten because he plays in the Q or whatever, but he's been solid for the Remparts as their captain, playing tough minutes. He's fourth in league scoring among defensemen, plus he's third in team scoring with 29 points (second best D on the team has 16). I remember Weisbrod saying after last year's draft that it's "exciting to see Kulak and Culkin grow side by side" ... I would agree.
BRETT KULAK (6'1" and 185)
2010-11 - Vancouver Giants - 3 GP, 0 G + 0 A = 0 P, 0 PIM, -1 [0.00 PPG]
2011-12 - Vancouver Giants - 72 GP, 9 G + 15 A = 24 P, 22 PIM, +29 [0.33 PPG]
2012-13 - Vancouver Giants - 72 GP, 12 G + 32 A = 44 P, 34 PIM, -34 [0.61 PPG]
2013-14 - Vancouver Giants - 36 GP, 13 G + 23 A = 36 P, 33 PIM, -2 [1.00 PPG]
------------------------------------------------------ TOTALS - 183 GP, 34 G + 70 A = 104 P, 89 PIM, -8
RYAN CULKIN (6'2" and 201)
2010-11 - Quebec Remparts - 40 GP, 6 G + 5 A = 11 P, 12 PIM, +1 [0.30 PPG]
2011-12 - Quebec Remparts - 60 GP, 6 G + 19 A = 25 P, 28 PIM, +9 [0.42 PPG]
2012-13 - Quebec Remparts - 67 GP, 5 G + 40 A = 45 P, 46 PIM, +28 [0.67 PPG]
2013-14 - Quebec Remparts - 31 GP, 3 G + 26 A = 29 P, 14 PIM, -3 [0.93 PPG]
------------------------------------------------------ TOTALS - 198 GP, 20 G + 90 A = 110 P, 100 PIM, +35
Kulak obviously scores way more goals, but in terms of points per game, they are remarkably similar (0.57 and 0.55 over their careers).

I like Culkin more. Something about him reminds me of big Al McInnis. I see good things coming from this kid.
