Why do the refs break up fights when both players want to go?
It's going to happen eventually.

Big Ern destroys McIllrath.

The rangers guy held his own better than I thought. Lost the fight but limited the damage.

Love having mcgrattan on the team... He's the best at what he does and is a great team guy! Good for him showing the kid some respect.

Really? He got demolished. Didn't hold his own at all. I don't even think he landed one shot.

Does anyone else notice that the Flames seem to end up down on the ice after most 1v1 battle situations this period?

McIlrath was drafted 10th overall for his defence and his ability to fight. He better know how to hold his own.

I didn't see that as nearly the beating you guys did.

According to the ranger telecast, Giordano skated by the 'between the benches' commentator and asked if McIlrath "was tough" in the 1st. Rangers commentator responds, "Why don't you try him?"

It wasn't a throttling... but a pretty clear win.

Is McGrattan the best fighter in the league (heavyweight division)? I think so...
