Can Todd Button possibly survive another regime change? Burke is his fifth different boss.

The better GM gig is in Calgary or Buffalo? I would include the NY Isles but we all know Garth Snow will be GM for as long as Wang is the owner...
Pierre LeBrun Buffalo. More coming up the pipe. Calgary has very little in the organization. Plus Sabres have the first-round pick from the Vanek deal.

Is there a hockey version of Billy Beane/Theo Epstein/Andrew Friedman out there? That would be appealing to me.

So the only name that was leaked last night was supposedly never contacted. Still haven't heard any confirmations about the Flames talking to anyone. Will be interesting to see who is on their list.

It has to be Burke in my opinion. No self respecting GM can take a job under this guy. It won't be their show.

That's why it will probably end up being some NHL Assistant GM from somewhere else, or some GM from the AHL.
Someone who's looking to get their foot in the door and will be willing to take the good with the bad.

Hextall is my pick. He's quietly built up a solid resume and has covered all the bases Burke touched on yesterday. The Flames would have to stream meetings between Burke and Hextall, though. They could be epic!

This Jim Benning character sounds interesting. I also like the idea of Kelly Kisio or BRENT SUTTER!!!!
Seriously - B. Sutter has the same mentality as Burke, is a black and blue Alberta guy through and through, knows all about drafting big WHL guys, etc. He's probably perfect for the job.
