The problem is that Sven is never going to be the player that Burke wants him to be. He's not going to throw his body around simply because he's not big enough to do it effectively. He's also never going to be 6'4" 200+. Instead what he does is use his great stick skills to steal pucks on the backcheck - something he's quite good at.
It seems like we're going to build a team of Lance Bouma type players - limited offensive skill but they run around and "have energy". We'll be a team that "works hard" - because we don't have enough skill to actually do anything once we get the puck.
Hopefully he finds his offense in Abbotsford, but I think he's as good as done as far as the Flames are concerned. I'm betting he'll be a throw-in on a trade in a couple months, probably with one of our pending free agents.

As I was saying, Baertschi seems to have hit a wall, whether that's his fault or Hartley's, the best thing for him is to see him sent down to the AHL and play under Troy Ward for a bit.
All in all, I like the move.

Sven needs to really use this as motivation and develop his game.
He can't just go down there and fit in. He needs to go down there, and work his ass off to prove that he is an NHLer.
Personally I think Sven has grown and has played much better recently, but he still has a ways to go and hopefully he realizes that.

I've been disappointed in his overall speed lately, although he's been making better decisions with the puck. Don't mind the move at all.. he needs to relax and get some goals under his belt. Hopefully he does well down there
