They are still getting paid, so don't feel too sorry for them.

Yeah this isn't like the real world where many people have been let go this December getting crappy severances wondering how long they will be out of work with a pile of bills to pay. These guys still get the value of their contract.

Not all that entertaining either.

This is just your opinion right moon? You certainly enjoying stating your opinions as facts.

As well, Feaster didn't single-handedley send the team into mediocrity like you say.... mismanagement during the Sutter era did long before Feaster took over. Feaster took over a broken team from the start and even the most casual fan could tell we needed to rebuild. So in my opinion, I think that the organization has a lot more strength and assets since Feaster was hired. I'm sure there must be more happening behind the scenes that the casual fan wouldn't know because it seems like Feaster was doing a pretty good job.

Russell was a great move. Stempniak for Langkow was great as well.

As for timing? Bull####... he's rich, he'll be fine. This just means he gets more time to spend with his family over the holidays.

You mean the same Feaster that botched the Iginla trade? Or almost traded our entire future for a second liner at best (O'Reilly)?

Guys give your head a shake, this thread should be locked its so bad.

I liked that Feaster was fired! Does that count?

Shut up. Feaster is still getting paid for the duration of his contract, and it's not like he has to move because he was traded or anything. He'll be fine.

I actually liked Feaster as a person. Seemed like a nice guy, affable, honest, open. But it just wasn't the right fit. Hope he lands on his feet.

Yep. Sounds like a really good human being. I'm happy about today's news but it's nothing personal as I like Feaster the man and I wished things could have worked out but there were too many things mishandled to overlook and I don't think today's news caught anyone around the league by surprise and most were surprised he lasted this long.

He means compete for the bottom, which is what some people actually want.

Took some time but Feaster and Weisbrod at the very least got the team pointed in the right direction. The additions of Wideman (Moon's opinion aside), Hudler (Seriously, brilliant signing), Russell were great moves.

There is now at least some sort of foundation for the new GM (please for the love of god, not Nieuwendyk) to work with going forward.

Good luck to both Feaster and Weisbrod. Weisbrod won't be out of work long. Feaster, may make a great AGM somehwere too.

Sources say Dallas has granted Calgary permission to speak with Joe Nieuwendyk. #TSN

Demand better fellow Flames Fans.

I realize it has been a tough road since 89, with such little overall success, but seriously, don't settle for the mediocrity that was Feaster's regime. Consider the fact that Darcy Regier's final trade as a member of the Sabres was better than any trade Jay Feaster has made. Ever.

There may be some areas that improved since he took over, but this guy was never going to be the solution in the long term.

It will get better.

I'm surprised there's so much hate for Burke. He won the cup with the Ducks didn't he? He assembled what is looking to be a pretty decent Leafs team, they looked solid last year and realistically should have beat Boston in the first(?) round.

I'm sure there's things about him I don't know, but he's had pretty good success across all of the franchises he's touched, at least recently.

I came to like Feaster and by this past summer had finally fully jumped on board with what they were doing and had put my whole trust in them. I've really admired his patience and about every decision he's made since last spring. Russell was a great acquisition. Only thing is he hasn't helped make the team any bigger/meaner through his past several sgnings/trades despite always talking about it, which is something this team has sorely needed. (Colborne I suppose, but he doesn't have a mean streak or always use his body, and it can be argued that was a Burke-driven move)

The only thing is I kept noticing is that Feaster tends to hang on to people and players longer than he should, and I think partly because of personal ties/liking. Perhaps he's a little too good of a guy in that sense. Whereas Burke is basically on the opposite side of the spectrum, and will make decisions according to his personal plan, without second thought.

Just thinking, but this may also be a stepping stone to Burke getting rid of Hartley. Everyone knows the ties between Jay and Bob were evident. Just a feeling, though.

Feaster seemed like a nice guy, but I like Burke better. Also think that Weisbrod is very overrated

Leafs are not a decent team
