I like/d Feaster & Weisbrod thread
I am stunned. I hope that we aren't sacrificing Feaster's seemingly good direction and draft strategy for Burke's scorched earth policies.
There better be a damn good reason for this...the Flames need stability, not this nonsense.
Goodbye 'intellectual honesty', you will be missed....I am sure.

edit: I guess people are actually going to use this thread for discussion- sorry for my somewhat rude post.
I wasn't a Feaster fan- and frankly, his blunders (as discussed in other threads) are so huge that he should have been fired before now IMO.

I liked Weisbroad and was not a huge Feaster fan but not a hater. I do feel better with Burke on board

Redvan, go do a drive-by on someone else's thread.
The deal with Feaster, is that he supposedly wasn't supposed to be in the 'win now' mode. I think we can agree that the team we have now is competitive and entertaining - injuries not withstanding.
We were to restock the cupboard, and not piddle away the future. So my question is, how did Feaster so egregiously stray from that?
His upside includes: Gillies, Gaudreau, Jankowski (to name a few)
Down side: Staios and PL3?
Jarome wasn't moved until last year due to his NTC/NMC and the ownership's fear of a city revolt.
He has been saddled with Sutter's depleted ranks, and ownership's meddling - I thought he did well.

His downside is much worse than that...

I wasn't a huge fan of Feaster but I think he took over an aging team trending downward pretty fast and he was slowly getting the Flames back on track. I like most of the stuff he has done. The timing for this is weird. Obviously Feaster wasn't going to die as Flames GM 20 years from now, but I thought he should at least see out this season.
I compare his situation with the Flames to Obama in the States. Taking over a bad situation from your predecessor and then having to answer for everything that is wrong and doing your best to resist pointing the finger at the last dummy that screwed everything up.

Competitive?
Have you looked at the standings since Feaster took over.
Not all that entertaining either.

timing seems odd, Feaster made some pretty massive blunders though...Weisbroad is just caught in the crossfire

Obama has no comparables, and please don't give him any crutches or excuses. He is a self serving, socialist megalomoniac....now, back to the thread....

I dont get it, I actually liked this team. Of course we are going to give up leads late in games, thats what young teams do.
Im fully expecting the classic Burke, trade 2 young guys for an almost expiring over priced veteran who has "heart".
Burke is a guy who you bring in and says paint this house and replace all the cheap crap and yes, he will sell the house but the house he sells will be a death trap but he wont care cause he doesnt have to live in it long term.
He might get us to the playoffs quicker but never to the cup.
And what blunders has Feaster made that has actually cost the team anything other than a bunch of mental midget barely high school graduates on TSN and SN saying that ohh terrible moves.

I agree with mykalberta - Burke will produce results, but the question is, at what cost?
This sounds like Murray Edwards that continues to vacillate over the direction of this team. We have gone from 'win now', to 'rebuild' to....who knows?!?!?

Wasn't a massive Feaster supporter, however I very much dislike Burke - I'd say his legacy is more myth than fact. Depends on who's brought in for the roles but I'm not holding my breath that it's going to be any better a direction...
Weisbroad I'm neutral on.

I am shocked. I liked Feaster and Wisebroad for the most part. Sure, Feaster could have been more efficient in improving the Flames, but they were definitely improving. Oh well, I won't lose sleep by any means, but I did like what Feaster and Wisebroad were doing

Feaster was a muppet and Weisbrod i initially liked coming from the Boston player development but it became pretty clear how heavily he likes the NCAA players. That that was really what he knows. Personally i think there is too great of a risk losing players rights that route. The NHL needs to fix that issue.

I liked the direction we were on. We seemed to be doing the right things to assemble a winner in the future. The drafting once Sutter was let go has been night and day better. I'm sure the scouts have a lot to do with that but the decisions at the top are important too.
This move signals a great deal of impatience and that has me terrified.

I think Feaster had a great draft. Burke said so too.
I hope the plan is to continue acquiring high draft picks and prospects.
