Obviously happy as I think Feaster was an awful choice and has been pretty much terrible since he came in. But surprised by the timing as I thought they would keep him for the season at least.

The Monahan pick looks good, but also the easy choice, outside of that the drafts have a lot of question marks still and are far from being great or something that should keep a guy around.

I think that Weisbrod's role was always unknown and perhaps many here attributed way too much to him and that is why there is so much surprise that he is gone too, but it seems like he was Feaster's guy so not shocked that he is out.

It will be interesting to see if Button survives another GM change, but hard to see that he does, perhaps that is a decision they are leaving up to the new guy that comes in.

Great news IMO.

Unfortunate for those guys who seem like good people, but great news for the organization.

Overdue.

Referencing that millions tweet, if ken king doesn't like it, I think it's a good move.

Burke is consolidating power.

Feaster will likely never work for an NHL club in any major capacity again.

Eric Francis on Hockey Central makes me want to puke..."The cupboards are bare, should be last if not for their good start"...talk about throwing your own city under the bus.

Hmm lets make an arbitrary roster freeze so players can relax. Buuut, screw management!!

Not exactly a consistent message there, not a fan of the timing at all.

Bout time! Bring on Burke!

Yes, after watching the O'Reilly offer sheet debacle, and the Bruins hold a post Iginla trade press conference to basically say "We were told he was coming to Boston" I was over Feaster. His numerous chest beating "I gaurantee we'll make the playoffs! There's gonna be changes at the deadline!" speeches to the media didn't help his cause much either.

Sarich for O'Brien was a head scratcher, but whatever.

Other than that, what bad moves has he made recently? Most of his recent trades, right back to last season have been solid. He brought in Russell, Colborne, got rid of Jackman for a younger, better player... He's been doing fine since he embraced the rebuild.

Timing is kinda weird but otherwise this is overdue. Feaster has done poorly at best.

Well given Burke's recent comments about spending to the cap, I think you'll see some high priced talent brought in as soon as he can. This is not going to be a "rebuild from the draft" in Calgary any more.

For christs sake, this will not affect Gaurdreau signing here.

Take the brown paper bag and breathe into it.

Hopefully we see Burke step in as GM. The guy knows how to build winning teams.

My guess: Feaster/Weisbrod and Burke's rebuild plan didn't fall in line, where burke wanted to make some big moves but feaster/weisbrod not on the same page.

I'm glad that burke is a USA hockey guy, as i would have been concerned if this impacted Gaudreau's view of CGY. Got a sense he had a good relationship with feaster/weisbrod.

Anybody else think the flames will be in on any phanuef rumours ?
My issue is that there is the same sense of a distinct non-identity in the Flames that has been there for YEARS. Is this year better? Sure. The kids have heart. Does that mean our direction is good? Not really. What direction? Youth? Well, that's generally what happens in a rebuild and there's really not much other choice in the matter.

I just don't see Feaster as having done anything above average. Ever. He's filled holes without much thought and created them without much thought either.
