Seems like he's gotten himself on the right track. He's my favorite prospect, and I'm really hoping he can take that next step. Hell, Jamie Benn was a 5th rounder, it can be done!

Great articles by both PMM and thymebalm, nice for the fans in Calgary to see and hear about the prospects. Another thing impressing me about the Heat is the size that some of the prospects have. Hanowski, Ferland, Reinhart all around 6' and 200#. I think the Flames system is addressing the size issue which should help them adjust to the next level.

I think Ferland has the upside to be a 2nd tier power forward, something like Kyle Okposo or a Shane Doan.

I see him listed as 6' all the time. Which isn't small, but 6'2 is just that much more impressive. Plus, if he is able to put on another 10-15 pounds, then he's a legitimate power forward size in the bigs.

And not 10-15 pounds like he had before. I'm talking 10-15 hurting pounds. The kind that come from his new found hard work ethic, and the kind that jar guys when he takes the body or buckle a guys knees when he lands an uppercut.

December 11, 2013 – The Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre will be the battleground for a set of back-to-back matches between the Iowa Wild and your 1st place Abbotsford Heat. The Heat have won two straight, and the Wild have lost two, most recently in overtime this past Sunday against the Texas Stars

Abbotsford is returning the favor after Iowa played host to the Heat for a pair of games last month. The Heat, who have a reputation for being bad guests (11-4-0-0 on the road), shut down the Iowa Wild, leaving them pointless and allowing them to score only once in the two games.

There is no question that he possessing a frame that is not plentiful amongst our skilled prospects. We've got size, we just don't have it attached to hands like Ferdaddy's. He's a project, but we could be looking at a winner.
