They could have easily made an exception and announced the stars in the opposite order so that 3rd star Iginla goes last. Nobody's thinking up there!

Somebody was definitely cutting onions in the press level during the Iggy tribute last night. I was really glad that I got to be a part of that last night.

Anybody here giving flack to people cheering for Iginla last night seriously need to give there head a shake. The guy is a Flames legend, and it was the first time we had to show our appreciation for everything he did for this city.

On another note, I'd be really happy if this team realized that hockey is a 60 minute game. They were absolutely terrible in the 3rd.

I always thought Hartley should play the goalie until they lose the game UNLESS the goalie was lights out and lose on a close game by a flukey goal or an OT. In this case, Ramo should start next game. It was a close game but that last goal could have been prevented by either Brodie or Berra.

McLennan actually had a point on his assessment with Berra. He is so active but he tends to wander around and get caught up out of position. In that last goal, he was out of position and left some good spacing. Granted he was not a 100% at fault on that goal. I say 50-50 on him and Brodie. But it's over with and Brodie or Berra cannot change what happened so move on to the next game.

Lot's of Bruins fans in the crowd (and they were loud, at least where I was sitting).

Second goal should have been stopped by Berra. It's not like it was a two-on-one -- he was out to challenge the shooter but let it go through him. Solid game otherwise -- you can really see the athleticism but he needs to refine his mechanics. Still needs to get that first win in regulation -- hopefully it's not a physical or mental thing with all of these third period goals.

New third jerseys are now 0-3. 'Nuff said.

One of the things that constantly works against a rebuilding team with new blood in the lineup.

Consistency through a game is a tough thing to teach younger players.

Lots of Bruins fans in my section as well. And honestly can you really pin this loss on Berra? I thought he played well and didn't seem to be all over the place as much this game. Also, when playing Boston can you really expect to win with only one goal? Asking any goalie to get a shutout against that team is a lot!

I was so glad the Bruins made Iggy skate around twice at the end, but was sort of disappointed that the Flames didn't come out. I think Hudler didn't come out as a sign of respect for Iggy, let him have the last skate during his homecoming.

Anyone know what was going on after the game? They had a section taped off behind the benches and some Bruins fans were sitting there. The security guy wouldn't tell me what was up, but I have a feeling some of the players were coming up to meet the fans after the game.

I was expecting the Flames to come out ala the Trevor Linden thing at the end. But I guess this probably isn't Iggy's last game at the dome.

It was a good game i wasn't expecting a win but was very pleased with how this team played. I was impressed with our d gio-smid, and Brodie- russell seem like very solid pairings, also our back checking these last couple games has been pretty good.

I agree there's a bit of a stigma pinned on his back these days, so it can play a role in the negativity. But, man, he was not good yesterday. We were talking about him a lot during the game, especially during the second period. There was an awful giveaway right in the beginning of the 2nd period, in the first minutes. We're lucky Boston was not fully awaken yet. There was another really bad play in the offensive zone within a few minutes. Then another giveaway shortly after that. They were not giveaways when a defenseman is outplayed fancily by a superior skilled player, those you kinda forgive, no they were just bad plays, I think.

Yup, easier said then done. There aren't many teams that are "on" for 60 minutes in a full game.. maybe Canada vs Belarus 10 years ago..

Boston gets away with it cause, well...... good teams find ways to win games. A few years ago, we would show up for 5 minutes a game and still find ways to win.

Berra reminds me of McElhinney. He lets in a bad goal at a crucial moment in nearly every game he plays. I disagree with people saying that the 2nd goal was okay. Berra was cheating to play something other than the shot, like he does so often, and it opened up a hole that wouldn't have been there otherwise. He does a lot of things well, but it's not translating into wins.

To be honest, I thought the Bruins played better in the first than the third (the shots would have been much closer had Chara and Iginla hit the net with their one-timers). The difference was that the Flames played well too. In the third period, the Flames just stopped playing. Guys were taking 15 second shifts just playing defense and then rushing to get off the ice. There is no way to play in the other teams end if you are just dumping it in and nobody is even trying to get it.

The third was incredibly disappointing to see.

Pretty easy to see how Hartley's system can be beat. Once a team starts activating their defense, and limited time for the flames forwards to move out of the zone, they get on their heels and start chasing. That is why you see them blow late leads. It's not necessarily that the Flames are sitting back, but that the pressure by the d-men causes poor decisions and turnovers.

Also, not finishing on golden chances to go up by two (cammy), and Berra having a worse mental strength than Luongo.

People need to realize that Berra is a young goalie who is still learning how to play at this level. Letting two goals in playing against the Bruins is a good night. Period. He is not the reason we lost. You can't expect to win games against teams like the Bruins if you only score 1 goal.

I was at the game last night and it was fun to cheer Iggy at the beginning. Anybody who is fazed by people cheering for Iginla or Boston or anything other than Calgary are morons. The main reason people were at the game yesterday was for Iginla not the Flames.

Basically, I was as hard on Iggy as anyone on this website over the last 2-3 years because I believed the way forward was by moving on. But that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve all the love, accolades, ovations, a jersey retirement and borderline a ####ing statue of him built. He is the greatest Flame ever and potentially the greatest there ever will be. He did a ridiculous amount for the community and team and city and the video might have been slightly too short but the ovation and loudness of the crowd spoke volumes.

I look forward to giving him another standing ovation when the Flames do his jersey retirement but until then I am glad the team made the changes they did, and glad for Iggy that he gets all the respect and accolades he does. He was the best.
