haha. ummm we let in 2 goals tonite. I hope we get lit up like that every nite. The quality of those goals are just terrible though by Berra. Deflates the whole team.

Can't see you having too many friends tonight.........
Thought Berra played a pretty solid game even if 2 got by him while Calgary sat on the lead. Colborne was great other than the bad penalty that resulted in the goal. I guess that will kind of sum up this rebuild until the team learns how to put it all together for a full 60 mins. Loved the atmosphere tonight! Even watching it on TV you could tell that it was pretty electric at the dome. Had Iginla scored the saddledome would have erupted......would have made for a fitting return for Iginla. Pretty Classy for the organziation all night and extremely proud of our fans for the awesome ovation. Iggy Iggy Iggy!

How the game ended sucked kind of hard.
However, year 1 of a rebuilding year with basically two rookie goalies (technically Ramo isn't a rookie but he basically is with his inexperience and time away from the NHL) you have to expect lapses.
This season the Flames will be on the losing end of 1 goal games more than they will be on the winning side of them.
Berra NEEDS a shutout, get the monkey off his back and move on. He'll be better for it, but that comes with experience. He'll be a good goalie, heck he already is with the exception of the lapses in the third. The question is how much of those lapses is him and how much is the inexperience in front of him? I'm not saying it's either/or but a combination of the two and I honestly don't know how I'd assess the proportions.
Iginla played well and got the win in his return. Hats off to the guy, he's a class act. It just sounds wrong to hear the play-by-play guy (especially Cuthbert) say the name Iginla and not want him to score. It's a gut reaction to hear Iginla shoots and be upset when he doesn't score, despite the fact it would have been against the Flames.
Alright 1:30am ranting over... I'm frustrated with how we lost, but not surprised I liked what I saw in the first two periods which means the talent and ability is there; now to work on the experience.

I think it has more to do with the infuriating late goals Berra and the team around Berra seem to surrender.

I agree. Can't pin this loss on Berra.

That was awesome that Chara and the rest of the Bruins wouldn't let Iggy off the ice.

if the Flames won 1-0 would Iggy have still been 3rd star?

Crappy goal by Berra or not, the Flame have only scored 4 regulation goals in their last 3 games which really isn't enough. We can't expect Kipper-like performances from our goalies every game because well, they aren't even close to the level of Kipper. So we really need to get some goals if we want to win games

Another high quality post from you. Although your post where you didn't consider the Bruins a cup contender because of an NHL 14 Sim is slightly better.

Cheering for our career points leader and future HOFer doesn't make you a tard. It makes you a fan of our heritage and acknowledges our past. Do you boo MacInnes too?

What did he do for our city? 1 year past the first round? Woohoo!!

I've been as tough on the goalies as anyone this season, overly in many ways I'll admit. However blaming this loss on the goalie? I guess some have selective memory and forgot the debacle that was the Flames third period.

The thing is, even when Berra makes saves he looks scary. At least Ramo is composed and looks confident. Berra plays like he needs a dose of Ritalin.

Yes. It happens all the time in these types of games. Doesn't matter the team.

Brodie let his man get around him on the winning goal. Reilly should never have gotten to the net.

Agree'd too. The last goal was pretty weak, but that doesn't change the fact that the team in front tried to sit on a one goal lead...
I'm not exactly surprised that that didn't work. But of course it's Berra's fault

Every time after the game like this we hear from Hartley "It's something to learn from and build off of". Well, that's getting pretty stale, and you don't hear too many vets echoing that.
|
I personally think that that was a bad goal. Brodie didn't play him well, but he was kept mostly to the outside and Berra left a massive hole open by just ignoring the post and the skater put it right there. He's not a good goalie and he's beloved by a bad coach.
However, I am not unhappy with how the team as a whole played tonight. There are always going to be stretches where a team like the Bruins make us look bad. Just like happened tonight. The last time we played them with a team that management felt could complete, we were destroyed. This was night and day different, with a brutal roster through decent play for most of the night.

Thing is Berra is still growing into his role, improving, and he is going to get better. I read in the paper, he mentioned that he has been working on his angles because he was over playing them. His last 2 games have been much better. Studying film and learning where he make his mistake before we know it both guys will be playing great. You could see on the ice he was pretty dejected when he let that one in!
