this is a tough game for me.... the Bruins are my team in the east.
I have a soft spot for Boston period, I love it there. If I was to relocate to the eastern seaboard that's where it would be. I look forward to visiting every time I go.
Bruins, Pats, Red Sox...all my teams.
Flames are #1 though, always have been.
So, if Jarome scores I'm happy, if the Bruins win I'm ok with it, if the Flames win I'm super happy.

I disagree. I think this is a pretty rare situation and considering everything that Iginla has done for this city I'd be surprised if he didn't get a standing ovation. Hell, I remember cheering when Joe Sakic scored his 600th goal against the Flames. I suppose that makes me a bad fan but I enjoy the game as much as I enjoy cheering on my team.

I hope Jarome has a monster game and scores a hat trick. If he does score, I hope the fire oes off and they play the dancing Iggy.

My 2 teams are the Flames and the Bruins. It has been for a long time. After Iggy signing in Boston this year and looking at the schedule, I made a decision.
Cheer for the Flames tonight. (wear the Flaming C tonight)
Cheer for Boston next week. (Wear the Black and Gold next tuesday)
I have found myself watching more Bruins games than Flames this season, due partly that the games start earlier out here, and it's a little more exciting hockey to watch.
I wish people would drop their superiority act that cheering for a player ONCE or TWICE a season is a bad thing. Truth is, a significant percent of fans wouldn't even care about Flames hockey if not for Iginla, so having loyalty to cheer for both isn't a bad thing. I hear a lot of people talk how the respect for the players by the players has changed (headshots, etc), how about the respect for the players by fans. Iginla gave us ALMOST everything as a Flame, and our current team is in a transition period - cheer for both Iggy and Calgary if you feel like it - and have pride in doing it.

Go Flames!!, There's no doubt Iggy will get recognized for his work with the Flames and it's well deserved. My team is the Calgary Flames and I don't care who comes into the building I cheer for my city to win, not for members of another team. I'm all into that moving on mantra and have no time to cheer for guys who played for this team.
That said if it's say the finals and Boston vs the Leafs, then it's all out Bruins all the way!!!!

I've seen favourite Flames traded away before. All respect for Iggy and he'll deserve a big ovation (I'll stand and applaud at home), but I'm cheering for the Flaming C.

Sort of a silly question since there is no reason why one can't cheer for both. Wishing individual success on Iginla doesn't require that one wish team success for the Bruins. It was said in the other Iggy thread, but a 4-3 Flames win and an Iggy hat trick would be fine by me.

Are you guys kidding me? Cheering for the opponent to score? I will be hoping the Bruins get shut out. Iginla, while he was great here is the past.

Oh come on, don't act like it's preposterous to be cheering for a person who many fans of this team idol.
I'm getting annoyed by all the people here acting like they're better Flames fans because they don't care about Iginla and only the hockey club. When you grow up with Iginla as your role model you wish him success regardless of which team he is on, even when he is playing against your team.
I for one will cheer loud if he scores, of course I love the flames and want them to beat Boston but if there's a loss I could stomach it'd be this one.

Cheering for the Flames vs. cheering for Iggy.

Are you kidding everyone else?
Iginla is still one of if not THE most important player in Flames history. From his leadership on the ice to his tireless work in the community, this man deserves your respect and applause regardless of the crest he wears. You don't have to do it every time he returns, and I would suggest that would be a bit silly to go on that long, but this is one night only. One night only to give him a proper goodbye, to give thanks for entertaining fans of this organisation for 16 seasons, most of which were only relevant BECAUSE of Jarome Iginla.
Show a little respect, and thank the man for one night only. I'm not suggesting you don't cheer for the Flames, but you damn well better cheer for both. Perhaps you're too old to appreciate what he meant to an entire generation of Flames fans, perhaps you're too young or barely a fan yourself, but don't question those that choose to cheer for Iginla. It makes you look painfully ignorant, and not much like a true fan at all.
You don't have to cheer for Iginla tonight to be a real fan, but any real fan should understand why another fan would.

Well said. I completely agree. I hope the crowd is as loud as it's ever been tonight for iginla and I know the fans and iggy would love for him to score tonight.

This isn't even a question worth asking. Being a "real" fan isn't the black/white issue some would paint it to be. Iggy was the face of the franchise for years, and a down right classy guy. You can welcome him back for this game and still be a Flames fan.
Now, were it the Stanley Cup Finals, Bruins/Iggy vs Flames? Sorry Iggy, gotta go with the team. But a midweek game in Dec? Go Iggy, and Flames.

If the Bruins score I would hope it to be Iginla but I would be fine with the Flames shutting out the Bruins. The bottom line is the Bruins are just another opponent and best case scenario (not very plausible) would be the Flames blowing them out.

Sure, I understand what Iginla has done to this organization and this community. I wish him nothing but the best in Boston against 28 other teams. I am a Flames fan first and foremost and to me cheering for an opponent to score a goal against my team is pretty ludicrous even if that opponent is Iginla.
