Fair enough. I wasn't even sure who he was playing (have just had the game in the background while studying). If he's playing top line minutes, then I think it's a lot of the Bouwmeester-Butler situation: he's being put in a position he shouldn't be expected to do well in.
The problem is that the things you hear while distracted (in specific, 4-5 bad giveaways) really highlight it.
If true, then I am ragging on him a bit hard. I was under the assumption he was in his typical 3rd pairing role with weak competition when he made those bad plays.

I love how going into OT/SO doesnt mean instant-loss for the Flames anymore. I think a win in OT (and sometimes shootout) is really exciting to watch but in years past, it was more or less a loss as soon as we finish regulation tied. Glad to see us win in OT again

He comitts too many turnovers that lead to goals. He needs to use his head more when he's out there and think before he makes some of the plays he does. Don't put him out in the last minute when protecting a lead
Ohhhh and from Bertuzzied

Yeah same with Russell, he wins his share of battles against big men along the boards. He weighs 173

What was the final score? I am not saying he was the best defenseman tonight. I just said he had a good game NOT a freaking GREAT game. Your Butler-hate is right up to your whatever that you can't admit that he had a good game. I watched the same game as everyone else but I am not focusing on one person because I like the Flames as a team.

What does the final score have to do with how awful Butler was the entire game? And good for you? I also like the Flames as a team not sure how that makes Butler play good but whatever.

Oilers scored one freaking goal tonight...so what GOALS are you talking about? I am talking about tonight's game not the whole season. Defense tandem tonight was Brodie-Russell, Smid-O'Brien and Giordano-Butler. Giordano was on the ice so which other defenseman do you think will be there? Hartley rarely change his D-tandem even if they are protecting the lead.
