You're canadian, you should watch all hockey that you can get and the football is for us neanderthals down here who care less about hockey.
It would be the exact same thing here if they were showing a hockey game over a football game.

Maybe in 1982 when the dial only went to 13. But there is TSN, TSN2, Sportsnet, whatever the Score is now, and 3 regional SNet channels.

On another note I think margin of victory needs to be added back in to the BCS. I saw a great break down of how NIU is ranked really low in the computer polls, but because the margin of victory calculation is removed before putting it in the BCS formula they jump into the top 15 of all the computer polls. I know running up the score is bad sportsmanship, but it also removes outliers of crappy teams scraping by other crappy teams. Obviously moot because of NIU loss but interesting nonetheless.
PS. forgot until I saw him on TV a couple weeks ago Josh Huff was a Willie Lyles boy too.

The best way to do it would require a lot of cooperation and a national czar type office that actually could act in the best interest for the NCAA. Create 4 16 super-confrences and let them playoff. Those 4 move on. I like simple top two better but IF we need to deviate that's how I'd do it. Keep the integrity of the Conf championships at least.
We seem to agree a top 4 doesn't achieve much more than what 2 does. It's just a gateway to lame top 8, and in that scenario I still thing top 2 or 3 or even 4 teams coast and sit guys in the Conf championship or rivalry game or whatever at the end of their sched because they are in either way.
I do agree that margin of victory should matter, for some reason football has a culture around you can't win by a big margin. One of the dumbest things in sports is the disdain for running up the score. Does anyone care when the Hitmen score a 7th goal to go up 7-1? Like they have the nerve to send 5 out on a power play, effectively piling on the opposition? And since we are finding flaws in how we evaluate teams, humans have this nasty habit of undervaluing Strength of Schedule. We don't need to think of Boise State, or Utah (back in their old conf) in terms of a NC contender. If you play Wyoming and Portland State for a living, that's fine but a dozen teams (or more) could run their tables.

Fun question, I'll think about that later when there's less conference championships on.

See that sucker punch from Thornton? Remember that next time Canadians react to some NFL player in trouble and refer to football players as a bunch of thugs.

There are, at least, 2 easy ways to get the 4 mega-conference:
1) Take the existing Pac 12, Big 12, SEC, and Big 10 conferences and expand their conferences slightly to hit 16 teams in each. Perhaps by folding in some of the better teams from the ACC, Mountain West (or whatever their current name is), and so on; or
2) Fold Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, TCU, and Texas Tech into the Pac 12, send West Viginia and a few of the good ACC teams to the SEC, slightly expand the Big 10, and create a smorgasbord conference comprised of the better teams from all of the remaining smaller conferences (Boise State, SMU, NIU, Bowling Green, whatever) and, perhaps, some of the rejects/extras from the Pac 12, SEC, or Big 10.
Or, people could face reality and realize that most schools don't make money in D-1 (or whatever it's current name is--FBS?) and just let those that do and can play well on the big stage every year fight it out amongst themselves through, say, 4 conferences comprised of 10 or 12 teams each, and relegate everyone else to a different division altogether.

The Suckeyes are going to win still, and unfortunately voters will do as they did with Notre Dame and "reward" the "second best" team based not off the realities of observation, but things like conference and school name. As such this national title game figures to have the largest spread in BCS title game history. I'd imagine FSU will be at least 17 point favourites.

I guess we can all just ignore Danny Heatly. My point is hockey players can be thugs as well. But leave it to you to go there.

It's probably going to be like the last time they played a Florida team in the National Championship.

Win because of a ridiculously poor penalty call?
