The flames should really show Ference and throw their recycling right in the garbage.

5–3, with one of those wins coming in the shootout.

But whatever, so long as your half-baked ideas about "team-toughness" and "grit" receive validation from cherry-picked or flat-out false information, it's par for the course from you.

The Oilers season is already over my friend, the only thing to be determined is how many points they miss the playoffs by and whether they suck enough to be in the lottery.

I'm not organizing the Oilers circle jerk until they get their 3rd win of the year against a team in a playoff position.

Even the Townsend Tigers could put up wins against the teams the Oilers played in that stretch.

Despite the tattoos and tough image he tries to portray, Ference is not even close to resembling a tough guy who will be used by a coach to send a message. He gets his shots in during spontaneous exchanges where he can catch guys off guard. If anything, Eakins avoids the match up with Stempniak as he has something to be fired up about. Best case for the Oilers is that they keep the match up and hope to draw a penalty from Stempniak.

If Stempniak 5-11 196 (Ferrence 5-11 187) is half the leader/mentor on this team that a lot of CP posters suggest he should be going after Ferrence the same way Gio went after Dustin Brown.

If Stempniak does not get 2 -3 good hits on Ferrence he should lose his place in the line-up.
lol. I love how you are pretending that Ference is some sorta great leader because he jumped a player for a clean hit on him. Ference acted like a punk. If Ference stands up and ask Stemps to go and they square off and have it out, I have no issue with it. But to just shed the mitts and start chucking at an unprepared opponent is no different than Emery beating up on Holtby or whoever.

Big bad Ference is gonna tell Stemps what exactly? "Hey Lee, if you...uh... hit anyone, ill just jump you when you arent ready, cause im.... uh.... tough, so watchout you bitchmade #####! you dont want another dental realignment!".

I think this is Stemps gripe to deal with. I'm sure he has taken Ference's number and is just biding his time. Stemps is more than capable of thowing a very deadly hit.

It was last game, Stempniak fought him then. It's done.

It's over. We're not Canucks fans, and Stempniak isn't POS Todd Bertuzzi.

It was a lucky punch that Ference got through before Stempniak had his mitts up. A big whatever fight if that punch didn't get through. Stempniak hammered Ference with the hit though.

Someone should force Ference into a fight. Shouldn't be 16 though that's overkill, but Bouma should give it a go.

Thing is, if you were Dermid McLane, and you knew your spot in the NHL was tenuous at best, what would you do?

If I was in his shoes, I'd drop Ference at the absolute first chance I got. No questions asked, no invitation given, just grab him and start feeding him.

I wonder if he got the extra 2 and a ten for that incident if there would still be so much animosity. I know that is one of the things that annoyed me the most in that exchange.

Sucks for us. He's out with flu symptoms supposedly.

I was totally looking forward to his face punching...

The fact that Ference knocked Stempniak's tooth out before he had a chance to defend himself is where my animosity comes from. Over a perfectly clean hit to boot.

The lack of penalties was just a little salt in the wounds.

I am not sure getting kicked out of the game and handing Edmonton a 7 minute powerplay would be terribly effective at solidifying one's NHL career.

Ference hits Stempniak 9 seconds into the game.... but to Stempniak's eminence credit he did not disappear and went out of his way to hit Ference in the 2nd period.

Basically as good a game as Stempniak can play.... provided a good leadership example.
