I completely agree with you guys.

Back when I was younger and cheaper and didn't know any better I just had an off the rack HP computer, I wanted to play some games so I bought a beast of a video card off of eBay and slapped it in. It wasn't until later that I learned about the PSU thing. But that computer hummed a long for a couple years with no issues and all it had for a PSU was a 300W no name that came with the computer.

That experience lingers in the back of my mind whenever I am budgeting a new build.

I'm a bit late to the party here (price is now $500) but I can't help but wonder if its worth buying a 'cheaper' laptop? $450-$500 doesn't get you into amazing specs, but certainly respectable for what you're looking for.

One quick example Asus Notebook at BestBuy $350

Comes with HDMI (home theatre PC!) and a mid-range Nvidia video card with 1GB of dedicated memory.

Just a thought.
