What the hell has Duthie ever done to be so highly regarded. He always comes off so campy and immature. Am i wrong? Is he some super insider with a bunch of GM's in his pocket? What do you guys find appealing about him that I'm missing? I'm willing to give the guy the benifit of the doubt i just don't understand.

He is a great host, even when he started out with Friday night football. He is light years better than anyone Sportsnet has right now or ever had.

I hope Sportsnet doesn't get desperate and hires Al Strachan

Sure. what else would you want from a host? Him calling out Aaron Ward months after the Iginla fiasco was hilarious. Only so many people out there can get away with that.

Dave Randorf who does Friday Night Football right now is great too. Rogers if they were smart should go after him.

And to think when TSN got the NHL national broadcasts right, they were going to go with a female host for NHL on TSN. I think she had cold feet or didn't do well in the days/weeks leading up to it and gave it to Duthie instead

The only female sportscaster that would be fit for that role right now would be Sara Orlesky. Maybe Kate but her eyes scare the crap out of me.

I stupidly turned to sportsnet one day and was watching some new brunette girl. holy crap is she horrible!!

Her name was Linda Freeman. She had worked for the Weather Channel and VTV.

A source with direct knowledge of the situation tells Awful Announcing that TSN will keep anchor James Duthie and analyst/reporters Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger at the network with long-term contracts, in a story first reported by Toronto Sports Media.

In what would be another significant step, the direct source also tells AA that CTV/TSN has acquired full rights to the National Football League in Canada.

As far as the NFL is concerned, currently both Bell networks shared content with Sportsnet, but it appears the NFL (which is assuredly a popular commodity in Canada, despite Bills attendance) will be moving full-time to CTV and TSN in the future, though no confirmation has been given just yet. A request for comment from TSN has not been responded to at this time, but we will update this post if and when they do so.

As far as I know, fairly good. The NFL moving to TSN/CTV is logical though. Far too much schedule conflict if it stays on Sportsnet/City.

It's interesting that Pelley(the man who penned the deal for Rogers) tried to make a woman with limited experience into the host of the panel back when that was starting for TSN. Wonder if he'll go off the wall again when hiring for Sportsnet.

Exclusive NFL would be good for TSN, but this is Canada and that will always take a backseat to the NHL.
