Just got back from the game:
- Really great atmosphere for the game. Not sure it was shown on TV, but there was a standing ovation for the armed forces present in the 3rd period.
- Ramo played great. The only concerns I have is his lateral speed (sometimes looks a little slow after rebounds) and his puck control (he had a couple adventures behind the net)
- Colborne is looking better and better. There were a couple shifts where his line seemed to dominate offensively
- Stajan played like an elite centre. Almost every good rush up had him towing the puck
- Really, the centres as a whole were good. Backlund looked great defensively and had a Cammalleri-esc one timer goal.
- Phoenix looked dead tired out there. The Flames seemed to outspeed them at every turn.
- Brodie had an excellent game. Huge minutes eaten and really didn't seem out of place playing them all out.
Oh, and quoth the Ramo: never score.

I find most Masks cheesy and too cartoonish, but this one just has it. Deadly Mask. Bravo.

I hate just about everyone and just about everything.
And here I thought Sven was one of the better forwards tonight,,too much booze I guess.
And please, please forking please find a way to get Butler off this team.
Well I guess I was drunk too even though I was drinking water. I thought Baertschi did well tonight but I wasn't nitpicking. The thing is, if you watch the game with open mind and not concentrating on your dislike to a certain player you'll see that he was one of the best forward..he was following the play and going to the net and so on.
As far as Butler is concern, yes he made a few mistakes that almost cost us some goals but Ramo and the other guys bailed him out. I still think Butler is a 6th or 7th D for this team and he shouldn't play as much as he is right now. He tends to make mistakes when he is playing way too many minutes. Hopefully Wideman comes back soon so Butler can go back to his natural minutes of play.
It looks like Blair Jones really wanted to stay in the NHL the way he's been playing since the call-ups. Unfortunately once Monahan and Glencross, he'll be the platooning as a healthy scratch. I like his hustle especially on PK playing with Paul Byron, who's also playing well as a penalty killer. I wouldn't be surprised that Flames will send Reinhart to Abby first when Monahan comes back.
Great game after a slow start. Lots of compete and effort from the boys tonight.
I thought BJones had a great game. Bouma too. Baertschi was the early source of offense for the team. Brodie and Russell were great again.
I think in the last two games, LA and tonight, Stajan has played as well as he has ever played for the Flames.
Great game for Backlund.
Lots of compete from all over the lineup: DJones, Stempniak, Smid - so glad to have Gio back
The veteran line struggles early in the game but they bounced back. Yes Stajan been playing well lately and he's been feisty too. I am still waiting for David Jones to use his size and play the way he used to when he was with the Avs. There was some instances tonight that Phoenix defenders was having problem moving him in front of the goalie. I was very impressed with Smid's play as well...not afraid to block shots and move people in front of Ramo. He didn't have the perfect night..made some mistakes but I thought he was solid. Good to see Gio back....the guy is a warrior.

Unless Sven puts on some muscle/weight, I don't think he's going to make it in the bigs. And I am a huge fan. He has every single tool in the toolbox, but he looks just so small out there. Or maybe it was because Colborne was skating by? I don't know...

Amazing that Hartley trusts call ups like jones and Byron on the PK without the threat of chocolate. I'm not a Hartley fan, but I like what he has done this year with the flames.
I liked Sven's game tonight... thought he did really good at keeping the play in front of him, wasn't chasing as much in all three zones.
That Colborne, B. Jones, and Sven line was nice, Sven seemed to match their intensity and looked very good. I hope he builds off it.
Thought the rest of the team looked good. It was a fun game to watch.
I agree. I think Sven played really good. I'm a big fan of his game and I wish everyone wasn't so hard on him. He has a good work ethic. I didn't see any plays die on his stick and he created opportunities for his line mates. He's hard on the forecheck and seems to be doing the right things defensively.
