I'm wondering what my options here are going to be. They just shipped my filler item (a toque). It is seeming likely I won't be receiving my jackets, and I would have never purchased this toque except as a filler item as I did.
I'm going to be returning the toque, but I wonder how quick Mark's is going to be to refund the shipping charge. Or should I just refuse the package and/or state I never received it and do a chargeback on my CC?
They know what people were doing here, Mark's is not some new small business. They are a huge player in the Canadian market. They should never have shipped the one small item without notifying customers and inquirying if they want the order or wish to cancel the whole thing.
No one is going to accept paying the $6.50 shipping charge for a small item that they more than likely do not really want (I think most were ordering one pair of socks or a neck warmer). Mark's is going to lose a lot of money over this mishap of theirs.
This will show up in textbooks years from now as what not to do.

I added no fillers or coupons, and I got the jacket.
Maybe they are punishing the people that gamed the system?

And by "gaming the system" you mean "trying to legitimately buy a product from a retailer online".

I'd first ordered the $50 jacket, came to $60 with shipping and taxes. This was Friday morning.
I then used the posted discount codes and ordered another jacket with a hoodie and it all came to $80. This was Friday evening.
I did not get any shipping emails at all. I however received the 2nd order this morning. I don't know where my 1st order is. I've been charged for both orders.

Likewise, just got the email as well. Sounds like they won't be able to cancel orders from their call centre if you do call in. You may have to end up bringing in the other thing to get the full refund including shipping. Don't envy the associates working in the stores when hordes of upset people come in demanding refunds.

Actually it was Marks gaming the system by making you spend more money for a minor incentive.
Basically they wanted people to spend as much as they could. Many people added toques and socks which was exactly the point of the free shipping over $X

I think there was some serious kinking going on at RFD. Existing customers were sharing sign up codes etc, to get the price to about $30. I can get how people are pissed, but this is typical of the "RFD Effect". A small group of scalpers and scammers ruin the deal for everyone.
I guy I know that used to work at Staples, said they had to specifically change their price matching policy because of all the RFD shenanigans. People were cleaning them out of thousands of dollars of merchandise they were getting for free, because of the policy. I remember a couple deals in particular, where people were getting label makers, and another where they were getting computer speakers, for free, and then posting pictures of their haul on RFD. There was also another incident where someone somehow hacked Staples database, and was posting stolen gift card codes that could be used online. People were outright knowingly stealing from Staples with zero conscious. To add insult to injury, they were making sure to stack the codes properly, to qualify for free delivery, of stolen goods. I like RFD to find the odd deal, but the site is frequented by some really scummy people.

REJECTED.
just got the email also.
I guess I'll still get 2 shirts at some point.
I thought online purchases were more professional than this, like an out of stock message would've worked.
####ty thing for me was I wasted a bunch of time trying to do this with an ipad before I realized it just wasn't working and then tried a normal pc, where my purchase went through quick, but hours later.

Anyone else make an order with Memory Express this weekend? I paid extra for shipping and they haven't even looked at the order yet Can you cancel the shipping costs and pick it up at the NE location?

I'll be visiting Mark's to get a refund on my $6.50 shipping cost for an $8 toque that I'm assuming will arrive at some point.
