I can't believe some people are pinning the NYR lack of success in the playoffs...on the person who is the main reason they are even there in the first place. Henrik can't score. How about spreading the blame to the other 20 guys in the room.

He is the very definition of a goalie who carries his team much farther then they should go. Kind of like a certain goalie in this town used to be. IMO Henrik is well worth that contract to the Rangers. Maybe not to a better team. But in NY, they are nothing without him. Nothing. And Henrik/his agent know it. His last 2 playoffs have been spectacular. The NYR last season scored an average of 2.17 goals in the playoffs last season. That means that Lundqvist would have to post an average of ~2 to even give his team a chance to win. That's a pretty tall order to put on a goalie.

On a team like Boston or LA, sure that cap hit would suck. But for NY, that's what it took to keep their franchise player. IMO he's worth it. And since we all hate the Rangers, we should all be happy he got this deal.

Shutouts in back to back elimination games isn't showing up for big games?

The Rangers can't score, that's why they don't win.

Sure 8.5 million sounds like a lot. But after he pays taxes and his agent, Lundqvist will barely take home $25,000 a day.

I feel bad for his family.

The extra money im guessing is to ensure he didnt bolt to a contender as a ufa. Just another player in ut for the money, not so much the cup.

With the insane of money live sports is getting when the NHL renegotiates with the US the Cap will be over $100million. We will see $13/mil per contracts pretty soon.

Monahan will prob get $10mil the next time he's up.... hehe

I don't doubt that one bit. And more importantly, the cap floor will be close to 100 million.

And I would be very happy if Monahan makes it to 10 million per.

Repeat cycle.
Doubt it, they got the players share down to 50% which is fair game in the pro sports world, the only thing I see changing is lower market teams wanting more revenue share from the rich teams. players would dig it and 75% of owners would as well...no lockout this time around.

I have no idea why advertisers would advertise on any show that isn't live sports. Even Breaking Bad i watched legally on AMC but i always started watching 15 minutes after it aired and skipped every single commercial.
