Mckenzie has already said that NHL'ers not being named today aren't being ruled out.
Flames have always maintained decision would be made closer to the tournament - and I'm sure they're sticking to that, especially with his injury status.

How did Poirier not get an invite?

Hunter "16 points in 18 games" Shinkaruk gets an invite over Poirier.
Looks like I'll be cheering on Gillies this year.

Rerun will still have to manage a lot of crying in the meantime. I stand by the tissue remark.

Other notables without an invite that I see so far: Darnell Nurse, Max Domi, Brendan Leipsic,
Not sure how Josh Anderson, Felix Girard, Taylor Leier, etc got invited over the others mentioned here.

Well that's disappointing....the WJC's just got a whole lot less interesting for me. Go Jon Gillies I guess.

Looks like we will have two possible players at the tournament this year, (Gillies and Rafikov, with Sieloff's injury)

Looks like Gillies and potentially Rafikov will be the only Flames at the WJC.
Not exactly a pretty sight for a rebuilding team.

Because everyone invited to team Canada is a better prospect then Poirier and Klimchuk? No they are not.

I'm not disagreeing, just saying it's disappointing.

I guess I'll be scheduling around team USA games. Don't know much about most junior aged players, but by all accounts, Poirier should be at least an invite.

Hockey Canada's WJC selection camp (Yahoo reports no Flames prospects make ro...
Not sure what else Poirier could have done this year to make the roster, guess better summer camp and super series would have got him an invite. Was a little concerned that he might get left off with the way they used him in the super series, guess my concerns were valid.

it's a lot smaller roster than most of the time, seems Sutter is all ready going in with set group (possibly even lines) rather than having tryout style camp

I was shocked to see Josh Anderson on the list at first glance, especially seeing as there is no Max Domi.
However, as said above, Domi has not been scoring as much and has taken a lot of dumb penalties this year out of frustration. I think him not making the Coyotes really bothered him.
The more I got thining about Josh Anderson, the more more I like it. If they are truly building a team instead of an all star squad, Josh Anderson is the kind of guy you need on this team. He won't pout when playing on the 3rd or 4th line. He is as hard a worker as there is, is tough, and defensively responsible.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Anderson play with Horvat on a shut down line.

Yea fair enough.
Just don't understand why Poirier didn't get any invite, its not like he's a one dimensional type player. He could of fit in the bottom 6 without a problem. Sounds like Team Canada is trying to bring "role players" instead of the best available.
