Default Denver Post Article on Scott Parker (and his thoughts on Bob Hartley)

Well I for one am so glad this clown is in charge of the future of the Flames franchise at the moment.

I can only imagine what kind of positive reinforcement he is giving the kids right now.

wouldn't surprise me if it was true. if his time here in Calgary is any indication, bob sure loves to have a pure goon or two in the lineup every game

This is pure gold, Jerry:

I remember seeing Parker play live and couldn't believe you could be that horrible and still play in the NHL

so people are just starting to figure out that Hartley is an "old hockey" style coach who leans on his vets more than his rookies and screws up youngp layer development... I only hope he's here because his coaching style will help us get a better pick

I hope he's gone before the damage is too lasting.
Bob Hartley is so not the right coach for a rebuild.
We have Feaster to thank for that.

Sounds like how players responded to Playfair when he first tried being head coach. "Why should I listen to someone who never played in the NHL himself" is such a stupid mindset that permeates in the league. If you know the game, you know the game. Just because he was a junior B goalie doesn't mean he can't coach.

I don't think I mind the fighting in the NHL as much as the fighters.

I think of instead of banning fighting, Hockey Canada should tell all minor league players that if they can record a coach or document a coach saying that you must fight this guy or any of that crap, that the coach will be immediately fired and can never coach again, permanently banned.

They have all these ridiculous programs to stop the odd rotten parent but nothing in place to stop bully meathead coaches that can ruin careers or even lives.
I'm sure this would go over well in the locker room.

That said, Hartley does not come off well here.

This story isn't surprising as there's a reason Hartley was exiled from the NHL. You can tell by some of his comments about Sven that he's more bully than teacher. I've been saying since last year that he's a terrible coach for a rebuild as he's not a teacher and his teams don't play defense. Hopefully Burke can rectify the situation before Bob is allowed to do permanent damage.

we need a teacher to coach this team for the next few years.... this further raises the question on whether he's the correct guy for the job....

does anybody else think the flames/oilers got the kind of coaches they need for where they are in the rebuild process reversed?!

I think this team needs to move in a "fresh new" direction with it's coach. I'd love to see a younger coach who's learned the new game and has new ideas, not someone who is living in the past.

I think Dallas Eakins is just very simply a good coach, regardless of stage. If given time (and it sounds like he will be), he'll be a big part of the Oilers turning it around.

Hartley will hopefully be here for a short amount of time, and so long as Wilson isn't his replacement - I'll be happy when he's gone.

(I actually think Brent Sutter would be a good coach to have for a team just starting a rebuild...He was completely lost with veterans, but he has shown an ability to work well with younger players)

IF Burke hired Ron Wilson, I think I'd be done with the Flames for a while.

I don't think anyone should be condemning Hartley based off the comments of one player. Hartley is an old-school coach, that's no secret, but he's also likely changed from a decade and some ago. This is fairly similar to when we had Mike Keenan as a coach.

But, if you ARE willing to do that, I assume you're all pro-fighting now? As the article pretty clearly states that Parker (as well as Scotty Bowman) supports fighting, and if you're going to take his one opinion on the merits of Hartley, you'd best be willing to take his one opinion on the merits of fighting.
