Lifetime Suspension

Advertising is the reason, yes. And this has been in place since the preseason. I can't believe people weren't aware of it when there was such an uproar about it at the time (when there was nothing important to talk about), reducing players' individuality etc etc. Detractors called it the Ovechkin Rule because it was so targeted at him.

rule has been around for years but has only started being enforced this season. stupid rule in my opinion. Apparrently its so that every player looks uniform, and for safety reason. If the back of the jersey is tucked into the back of the pants then it is easier for a skate to get back in there

What a stupid rule. All the things that could be done to improve the game like video review or suspensions for diving but instead, the league is cracking down on tucked jerseys? What a joke.

Yes because simply saying "Sorry, you can't tuck your jersey" is totally holding back the progress of improving the game and cracking down on diving

I'm not saying it's what is holding back those from happening... I'm just saying the league seems to put little effort into improving the game for the better. Whatever the reason is for this tucked jersey rule, it's an example of the league only being willing to make the most insignificant of changes to the game. From the day an idea of serious weight is presented to the league, it it seems to take a decade for them to move on it if at all.

The thing is, this is not a new rule, they only decided to enforce it this year. So it's not like they made a change and added new rule or anything like that. This was a rule that has been in place for a long time, just never enforced up until this year.

I don't want significant change though. The NHL is good in its current state. I can stand the minor changes, but don't want anything drastic.
The league has done plenty in the last 10 years to try to improve the game. Hurry up faceoffs, puck over glass rule, removing the red line, shootouts, hybrid icing, trapezoid, etc. It's debatable if any of it worked, but they are trying.
What do you want them to do? What are your ideas?

I can't remember exactly when but Babcock was on the Fan 960 and was arguing against the red line being taken out. In his opinion he believed that the coaches would quickly adapt, but most importantly it should be put back in. His reasoning was the game is way too fast with 200+lbs men skating around with rockets in their skates and is resulting in serious head injuries.
I realize they are trying but I'm sorry I hate the Trapezoid why would we penalize a player because they are really good at something that causes no safety concerns. However, by putting it in place all we have done is encouraged the LA King dump to the corner then go kill the defensemen.
If we do anything go ahead try it, but do it like we brought in Hybrid Icing. Then just as much as we debate and vote to bring in a rule. We should have the same sort of debate on the new rule and is it working as planned.

I also hate the trapezoid. It nullifies the skill goalies like Brodeur, RDP and Turco spent their entire lives working on.
But the point is that tthe NHL is trying to change the game to improve it amek it better. They're not just sitting back doing nothing.

Remember when CCM used to sew their logo on the left side of Gretzky's jerseys because he tucked in the right side?

My God that's a big baggy jersey. It's like he's wearing a moo moo.

Coach's challenge/video review. Suspensions for diving and penalizing only the diving offender instead of it being coincidental minors. Using the advanced tracking technology that was presented to them last year that would make goal/no goal calls far more accurate. Removing the trapezoid.... Take your pick. They are all things that the NHL could use and would benefit the game. Malkin's jersey being untucked has no effect on the quality or respect of the game at all.
