3 point nights for Eric Roy and Emile Poirier: Roy had a goal and two assists in an 8-4 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors, while Poirier had two goals and an assist in a 6-3 win over Baie-Comeau. Coda Gordon (day-to-day) and Morgan Klimchuk (probably got the night off after the Super Series) were not in the lineup tonight as their teams lost 3-1 to the Hitmen and 7-6 to the Raiders, respectively. Kanzig and Kulak also in action tonight, no points for either so far.

He's been terrible for a several weeks now. He's looking like a pretty weak pick where he was taken.

A transition doesn't happen overnight, or in one season. We'll see how his numbers look at the end of season 2 compared to season one. Don't tend to get too excited over the big games or too upset over the bad stretches.
Your quote of getting puck luck is still really ill informed though.

Klimchuk left the SSS late in the third period during game six and did not return.
Hopefully it is nothing serious.

I disagree. Although I do agree with you guys that the assists will probably pick up. I've watched the last 7 games and he's been really weak in the last 7. Hopefully it's just a rough stretch, but if it continues through the season I'm gonna conclude he probably just isnt a good prospect anymore. We could have had Hertl, Maata, Wilson or Tervainen. All are better prospects at this point with equal upside.

NCAA year 1: 30 GP, 6 G + 8 A = 14 P, -11
NCAA year 2: 32 GP, 9 G + 11 A = 20 P, -1
NCAA year 3: 34 GP, 15 G + 14 A = 29 P, +7
NCAA year 4: 34 GP, 23 G + 23 A = 46 P, +12
the college stats of another long-term project named Alex Killorn, who has now turned into a very fine NHL player. Patience, people.

You can't cherry pick one guy in thousands and use him as an example for patience. He's a major outlier, not a promise that Jankowski will ever live up to his "best player in the draft" moniker.
I believe the kid has a tonne of raw talent. The problem isnt that he is just incosistent, its that he is listless. His level of compete in most games is very low.

Kulak had a PP goal in a 5-4 win.
In the ECHL, Olivier Roy had 32 saves in a 2-1 loss.

Yeah, I've been questioning his compete level since I first heard of him. First off was his choice to play high school hockey. He could have played Junior A or even B. Next he didn't have the confidence to go straight to College but wanted to play US Junior A. Now I'd like to see him have more take charge moments but it's still to early to make any sweeping judgments until he's more physically mature.

Jankowski is very acidemic. He is a real smart cookie. He'd likely get a better education playing on a high school team than in junior A or B. He planned to play a year in the USHL to better transition into college hockey before deciding to persue his college game a year earlier. If you watched him during the Flames camps you wouldn't be questioning his compete level at all. He clearly (in my eyes) values his education as much as he values his game, which says a lot about him.

Backlund is horrible too. Why he doesn't score more is beyond me? I mean, playing with two solid offensive threats in McGrattan and Bouma, you should be lighting up the league, right? Jankowski has been put in the third line center role, which is a great spot for him. He's playing with a couple of grinders and learning the defensive side of the puck. He's also forced into a more physical game, which the Flames said they wanted him to work on. He is still producing while playing on a defense first line, on a defense first team. Solid developmental year for the kid, but those who only follow the scoring summaries will not understand that.

Also, he had a ridiculous growth spurt in the year before the draft. He was an undersized 15 year-old who was ignored in the OHL midget draft when he committed to Stanstead.

Can you explain why his goals have mostly been due to luck?
We're all not going to like all prospects. There have been many guys over the years I've liked that never made it, many is disliked who did and the same amount on the other side of the coin but to brush off his goals as mostly being lucky is just dismissive and downright incorrect.

Rafikov hit him pretty hard in the last 10min of the final game. He made it off the ice but didn't return for another shift.

The Friars are currently playing their Providence cross-town rivals, Brown University, in the annual Mayor's Cup game.
After one period, PC leads 1-0. Gillies stopped 7 shots in the first; Gilmour had an assist on the goal; and Jankowski went 3 for 5 in the dot, and had 3 shots (second most on the team).
EDIT: 2-0 now, early in the second. Assist for Jankowski on the second Friar goal.

End of the second, still 2-0.
Gillies has faced 23 shots in the game. Jankowski is 5 for 9 in the dot, with 4 shots in the game (tied for most in the game). Jankowski and Gilmour are both +1 with 1 assist.
