Looking for a silver lining now. With the removal of two of our top 6 skaters for a few weeks, we'll have less talent overall, and less chance at winning games. That will lead to a better draft pick, and a better outcome for our rebuild.
It sucks right now as this team is painful to watch at times, but hopefully it's a good thing in the long term.

Oh boy I hope they weren't doing this. Rookie season, future franchise player, and suiting him up at less than 100% for some meaningless (in the grand scheme of things) regular season games in year one of a rebuild?
It's one thing to play with an injury but there is a time and a place and this is not it.

You need to reward your AHL guys who are playing well, even if they aren't in the long-term plans with the parent club. Otherwise, why would anyone over the age of 25 in the system bust their humps every day?

Well, at least Monahan gets some down time.
People were saying he needed a game or two in the press box.
It's unfortunate that he won't make the world jr's. He could easily dominate that tournament and it would have been a great confidence booster.
Wideman will be missed, for good and bad, only because he is really offensive at both ends of the ice.

Sucks man. Looking at the standings, how the fata are the Islanders worse than us? Did Tavares get injured or something?

You know, next year our d core could look like:
Giordano-Brodie
Wideman - Ekblad
Smid - Russell
Which is actually pretty decent. I have a feeling we might trade Smid or Wideman though.

I would think that they want him around the team absorbing everything he can while he's out, instead of sitting at home by himself with Hudler's wife and kids
Next thing you know, he'd be moving piano's around the house 8 times a day.
