I wouldn't mind this change one bit. Modifying a bunch of systems that need to calculate DST pays my bills.

I think it's important to stay with the majority of the world on this one, it's just too confusing the other way.

And yeah, some different countries or time zones change at different times, and some don't at all, but right now it's more simple to just keep it the way it is.

If it ever goes to a point where a bunch of countries do not change, then I'd be fine going back. But now it kinda seems like, what's the point?

Besides, didn't we change the time of year when we changed a few years ago just to stay closer to the U.S. weekend of change? Why mess that up if it was such a big deal?

I believe they changed so we did too.

I don't understand why everyone says it's more complicated to not change than it is to change. Frankly, I don't really give a rat's ass if the airlines have to figure out what time my plane lands differently for a couple months. They seem to be able to figure it out just fine for Saskatchewan.

Honestly, in this day and age we are concerned that multi-national corporations can't figure out what time it is in Alberta?

To the 6 of you this may actually have a negative impact on in your day to day life, my condolances. To everyone else, enjoy not having messed up sleep patterns.

Messed up sleep patterns? 1 hour time difference twice a year is nothing. Dealing with different time changes on a daily basis is a lot more of a problem. Everyone in the corporate world will have to deal with this pain where as no one will gain anything from the change.

You mean the people who can't handle a 60 minute adjustment twice a year when they probably go out randomly on random weekends and have varying times that they go to bed and wake up not to mention vacations with time zone changes and other travel... If you can't handle a one our time change twice a year I'd suggest you're not equipped to leave the province EVER or go out past 9:00pm at night.

Some of us actually like going outside and that extra usable hour of sun has a tremendous positive impact on our lives.

As for sleep patterns, I reckon going to the pub on Saturday has a far bigger impact on peoples sleep patterns than a 1 hour change twice a year.

Clearly we can all agree to just keep DST year round, we all get the extra hour of daylight all the time, and no clock moving, it's a win win.

Why the heck do I have to leave the office in the dark anyway?

Well it's more myself that I'm worried about not remembering that we are different than the other countries that do change. Not the corporations. I do end up calling a lot of other countries. I guess it's easy enough to look up nowadays on the web though. Maybe not 15 years ago, but today it is, so I'm sure I'll figure it out. I just have to explain it (any new schedule) to the person on the other end if I want them to call me, which is sometimes a pain.

Either way I'm not going to lose much sleep over it though. Pun not intended, then intended when realized. I don't believe the change really changes sleep patterns, but I don't really have any patterns anyway. Same with traveling in the dark or light, I end up doing both anyway, so it's not really better for me one way or the other.

Just seems like it would be easier to stay the way it is now.

P.S. Why in gods name would we ever want to be like Saskatchewan though?

It is a pain when you have to schedule phone calls across time zones. Especially with portions of BC that already don't observe DST and other portions that do.
Fort St John is on MST in the winter and PST in the summer.

What pain? There are different time zones already. People deal with this already. We will either be on BC time or Saskatchewan time. How in the hell is that a major pain in the ass? WTF people.

The pain comes from people in BC having to remember what time zone we are in this month. Or Toronto, etc.

And no- we will never be on Saskatchewan time. So we will either be on BC time, or our own time. Currently Sask is on CST, so in the summer they are on the same time as us; MDT. Winter they are on the same time as Winnipeg; CST. We would be on PDT in the summer, and MST in the winter.

And speaking of confusion- you just proved my point. You are already confused about how it would work. And I know you are a smart person; and for every person like you there are 10 other dummies who would always have the wrong time.

This is my favorite. The sunlight isn't usable if it's too early in the day? Or too late in the day?

I guess that's confusing for me. I go to work in the dark and get home in the dark in winter. I would prefer the hour in the evening, not the morning. Either way, we don't LOSE an hour anywhere. It's not like the sun just goes out for an extra hour. It's still a usable hour of sunlight in the morning or in the evening.

Actually the time on my clock is right.

And technically, we would ALWAYS be on MST. We would not observe DST, but always be on MST.
