CBC Saturday night games will still continue, TSN will cover games as well. Sportsnet said more games will be covered. How has not been revealed.

can't be bad... on saturday night instead of being stuck with a Leafs game on CBC.. there would be additional games on City and TVA.
There would even be two late games.

I wonder if Rogers will try to hold streaming to phones as exclusive to Rogers customers?
I think we'll see a lot of this kind of positioning

so much fake anger and drama over this deal...and in the end every single one of us will still be sitting here watching no matter how good or bad the production values are.
I grew up in the era when the only choice was channel 2&7 for Flames games, sometimes. now there's so much damn hockey on TV I barely have the time to consume most of it. long as that doesn't change, Sportsnet could hire their own version of Maggie the Monkey to do the PBP and color commentary and I wouldn't care. although some would argue that's pretty much how things are run right now.

CBC guy on podium now - partnership with Rogers allows HNIC to live on.
CBC not prepared to spend this level of high-stakes money.
CBC carries 320 hours of prime time hockey - reg season, playoffs, SC finals.
CBC happy to share brand with Rogers.

Bertuzzied- quit beating the dead horse. We know your opinion and we don't need to read it every 3rd post.

Exactly. Most of CBC's programming is tax-funded money losers. Having something that's neutral is better than that.
Still, this is a huge blow to CBC's funding. Either the government will have to replace the lost revenue, or they'll have to make some big cuts.

Nothing fake about my dislike for RSN. It's pure garbage as far as I'm concerned.

I'm loving this announcement just for the entertainment factor of watching yet another "Bertuzzied meltdown" alone.

For now at least.
I do think he has hinted about being close to retirement so perhaps he is not looking to jump ship with only 3-5 years left.

habernac: TVA will get 22 Habs games nationally (probably Saturdays) + playoffs.
I guess that means RDS gets the rest regionally.
