It's probably a good and interesting way to force Rick and co. out of the prison. Actually have the Governor succeed this time.

Well didn't they just run away after 1 guy was shot last time? Maybe this time they'll plan on having the other group fight back...
And it's also a sneak attack, kind of I guess. Did show in previews them just like asking to get in, but without the preparation like last time it's a difference. And they're still getting over the illness, not really sure how many people are out and about but with Glenn sick, Carol gone, if they wait for a group to go on a supply run that's like half the army gone from last time. (Although they'll need to have all the big guns there for the mid-season finale battle...would make more sense if the Governor actually waited and planned on them going for a supply run like they do every Sunday).

Well I agree it's a way to get them out of prison, and I agree that would be a good thing at this point. But I dunno about good or interesting. It's more like a lazy way of writing it in.It's already happened once!

The latest Governor-centric episode was much better than the previous one, in my opinion. I'm fine with the Governor being a bad guy (although I did think he was a bit over the top last season). The two episode sidetrack to bring us up to speed on the Governor and half-heartedly try to reconcile his character still seems a little misguided. We got an episode and a third of him trying to be nice and then a bit more than half an episode of him being a total dick again. The attempted change seems pointless.

His change just was to solidify that he is the anti-Rick in my opinion. Rick went crazy and had to become sane again, where the Governor went sane after shooting up his people and then got crazy again. The Governor tries to justify his blood lust as "surviving" or protecting his new family, but really he is just a nut job.

Perhaps that's what they were shooting for. Maybe it would be best if they just stick to the show's strengths instead of trying to be self-reflective and shoe-horning depth of character. Good drama and character development is what Breaking Bad and Mad Men was/is for.

I wonder.
You don't see who is attacking the prison. I wonder if Brian shows up gives them the leave in 24 hrs and heads back to sleepy hollow. Then the prison is attacked by the unidentified party that raided that little camp in the last episode.
It would be an interesting twist, unlikely, but interesting.

Agreed, would be a good idea, or at least different, but I don't think that's the way it goes down.
I think in the preview you see 'Brian' trying to rally his troops to action anyway.

Didn't take long for "Brian" to become the Governor once again, it would be nice to see Carl snipe him.
Actually i would like to see a battle with Michone and she takes his other eye and he stumbles off into the dump site for the latrine.

I still want one of the animated biter heads to be used as a weapon. That would be awesome.
Just hold it against someones face and it's chowing down on them. Or lob a bunch into a confined space and watch chaos ensue.

That would be one amazingly effective terror weapon.
Too bad it'd be useless in actually hurting many people, given how small a mouth is and how squishy the walker's flesh tends to be (seriously, what the hell?)

The two governor episodes were better than anything they've put out since late last season (imo the gov hunting down andrea episode). The prison storyline this season I could barely give a #### about...just terribly boring. Constant rehash of issues they've already dealt with, little plot progression as they just kill off characters we barely even knew, so it doesn't cause much of a shake up. The only new thing was the sickness, and a couple episodes into the outbreak it was already getting old. The last prison episode was alright, but not great. I think it's just that the show is far more exciting when it follows a group that moves around outside shelter, where danger is far more real and imminent, and I guess it helps that "Brian" is the most interesting character on the show. I hope the Gov kills some people next week, cause the prison group needs a shake up to make that storyline even mildly interesting again. A stupid virus doesn't come close to some real human conflict.

I'm inclined to agree but haven't been able to put my finger on why I find this boring.
Perhaps it's because a sickness doesn't have a face? Maybe two episodes one where we don't know what's going on, and one figuring it out and solving the issue (antibiotics). Anything more is just dragging a faceless villian.
I basically stopped wondering who else is out there and what's going on in the rest of the world. Which I think is a problem. The characters should want to know more. They should hope for humanity not just prison survival.
For as much time as they have spent at the prison I feel like we don't really know the setting aside from one small cell block and the yard, nor do we know hat is around the prison (in therms of towns, possible settlements, etc).
You would think by now there would be other towns like Eoodbury that have risen and an economy/trade would have started. It's been how long? The outbreak didn't just start yesterday.

Yeah I like how they are going us a better understanding of how a regular guy like Brian could turn into the Governor through inner conflict. He's a bad man without a doubt but you can argue that he was not always a bad man and the Governor is the result of a man hell bent on survival of those close to him willing to do whatever it takes even if it means doing horrific things.
