Again, we'll need a bigger sample size before knowing for sure how traffic will be impacted.

With the opening of a new road, some people will take it when other wise they wouldn't, just to see if it works for them.
It probably takes a week or two for things to rebalance.

Out of sheer curiosity, I hopped on the ring road at the 22x and Deerfoot interchange last night around 11:30 after having dinner at my folks. It was eery. I was the only car on that road as far as the eye could see, in either direction. It was like those pictures you see of North Korea, or some sort of end of the world scenario.

It was so dead yesterday even at midday. I'm thinking the SE will have a bigger discrepancy than the other 2 legs between weekday and weekend traffic.

Some pictures from Friday's opening in case anyone is interested.

Is there a map that someone could post with the newly open portion?

Anyone know what that is?

So, now that SW is the only portion left and the land deal is on way to being done, is there any map of what the proposed preferred routing will look like?

Won't be down there today but I'm very curious... I'll be checking Twitter when I get home and there should be a few tweets. I fear it might be worse, some people might have avoided it not knowing if it'd be open, or not knowing about it at all. Or... they could've fixed the timing.

I drove by Glenmore on SB Stoney at 4:15ish and it looked back up to 68th Street again.
I drove SB from 16th Avenue over to Macleod Trail and it was surprisingly busy. I was able to keep my speed at 110 though. Those cantilever signs look pretty damn awful especially ones like the 114th advance on NB Stoney...wish they had sized each structure for the sign. Anyway, it was a very smooth drive and even though there is clearly a fair amount of work to do in the spring, it's a good drive. Took me about 20 minutes to get to Macleod.
