Well!
Today, Stamkos walked into his first press conference post-surgery sans a walking boot, cane, or crutches.

well he has a steel rod in there supporting everything. should be strong, but probably painful and inflamed if he walks around like that for too long

Yep he's probably on Naproxin or some type of anti-inflammatory to be able to walk around without discomfort.

I broke my tibia 2 years ago. Went through the same surgery, steel pole and all. Remembering back this absolutely blows my mind. Don't think I was given the ok to walk on it from the surgeon for at least 2-3 months. Wow.

Well they're throwing all the money and finest specialists they can at him. Basically an infinite amount of resources to get him back up and healthy as soon as possible. Not what the average you or me would ever have access to.

My only guess is that it was a clean break. Usually you find that the bone can splinter and cause damage to the surrounding tissue, but if, somehow, the break was completely clean and the surgery went well, it's very possible.
Still, bloody amazing. Should be good to go for the Olympics, no real question at this point.

Exactly, most people dont get surgery for broken legs, they get a cast and some painkillers.

He's way too tall to play a Hart.

Stamkos cleared to play. Missed the Olympics, but still a crazy quick recovery.
