Default Lets Talk about Adjustable Beds

So Peter Maher finally convinced me to buy an intellibed, and now i'm looking at adding an adjustable base to it.

Anybody have any advice on what to buy? Sleep Country has a new one that you can connect to Bluetooth and adjust from your phone, but I't actually looked somewhat cheaply built.

Need best price/quality suggestions, thanks.

Default Go check them out

I don't work the sales floor part of the business but we carry a lot of different bases other than the new Bluetooth model. To keep this generic there is a real low end off shore specials if you want cheap or if you want to spend the moon go look at one of the Tempur bases or the TV/Stampede/Homeshow specials. I sold them for many years though not in that side of the business now. Keep in mind the better quality units that are made in North America only really come from 2 companies and they are marketed by all the other bedding companies with different names and with different options etc. Much like they do in the electronics business so you may not find 2 exactly the same. If you have any specific questions feel free to shoot me a pm and I will try to help. They are pretty slick and have sold many to people for different reasons health and otherwise over the last almost 20 years or so.

How much does Sleep Country mark these things up? Without even negotiating they were coming up with clearance specials of around 20%

You made a good choice going with Intellibed. Doesn't the Intellibed (Bodo) store carry an adjustable base? Its been a few years since I got mine but I'm pretty sure they have them, though they wouldn't come cheap. I've been unofficially pimping these beds for years. You'll never regret buying one. Make sure you get the gel pillows too.

I'm sure there are lots of reasons to get a bed like these but I always associate them with the elderly...and this commercial.

Not knowing the OP's reason for wanting this feature I would assume severe spinal problems. I find that Intellibeds provide excellent alignment or support without an adjustable base, though I don't really have any back issues to begin with. The odd time I actually want to watch TV in bed I'll use a few extra pillows and just sit up. Watching TV in bed is a bad habit to get into though.

Default Lots of reasons

Comfort, TV watching, back issues especially sciatica like me and as most think the elderly. I even sold one once to a computer programmer so he could setup in front of his big screen and get in the right position to pound the keys easier without as much strain or getting tired. Lots of good reasons. Just make sure of the MFG as outside the 2 big guys the others are harder to get parts and service.

Actually the guy at Intellibed suggested I shop around at places like Sleep Country because they get better volume discounts, and they usually can't beat their prices...

I agree. Better to spend the extra money on the mattress and pillows. The foundation is where you can save. You probably dealt with the same guy I did. They provide excellent customer service, including giving you honest answers, rather than trying to up sell you. Did you get the Relief Perfect? They are awesome beds.
