I would have no problem trading Cammi to the Nucks. No chance they could get Horvat, but i bet their 1st round pick would be in play. Even with Cammi on the Nucks i don't see them being better than a bubble team. Maybe they don't make the playoffs, but if they do, i could not see them being any better than 8th and getting booted in the first round.

It seems more likely that Vancouver would give up Horvat as the center piece of a deal for a young forward like Evander Kane or Brayden Schenn.
Doubt he gets moved for an UFA rental.

The only way a deal like Cammy for Horvat works is if somehow a contract extension is in place first. I could see a sign and trade for Cammy to go to the nucks.
I just think it's a good idea to make deals for guys like Cammy, Stajan, SOB, and stempniak sooner. Their value isn't that bad right now and there is always a risk of injury with those guys.

I agree with Sureloss the only way Van would part with Horvat was if he was part of a package to being in a young star player like Evander Kane.
I wonder if the Nucks would trade Kassian for Cammy?

Can't imagine they would trade Kassian for Cammy if Cammaleri was signed to a great deal. With him being a UFA there is 0 chance they deal Kassian for him.

Ugh I hate Kassian
I don't think something around Booth + Horvat for Cammy + Something is completely impossible. If there is any GM in the league in a position to get fleeced it is Gillis, and Burke would be the guy to do it.
Still think the Canucks would prefer to move their 1st or a different prospect. I like Corrado and Shinkaruk (although others don't) a lot

Is that + Sven or Monahan?
They just traded Schnieder for him and drafted him at #9. There is no way they are dealing Horvat without getting a very, very good and likely young piece back.
Cammaleri would have to be a small part of a package to get Horvat with the other piece/pieces being the more valuable parts.

You realize Monahan went 3 spots ahead of him right?
I was thinking like Backlund or someone similar

Yep.
I am not saying the Flames would do that but that is what the Canucks are going to want if they are going to move a guy they just made a major deal to pick at #9.
Cammaleri and Backlund for Horvat gets the phone hung up before you get the lund out. Even if the Flames are taking Booth's deal back with Horvat.

Moon, it is the Nucks that need to deal here, not the Flames.
When your team is sliding down the standings and you can't score goals but have an old core signed for several more years, you have to try and make it work.
I'm not saying they wouldn't have other options if they dangled Horvat, but they are in no position to be asking for the... moon.

Yep. I really wish that morning radio crew did not float the Horvat for Cammi deal. I could see alot on CP thinking that, or something like that, is obtainable for Cammi. It is not.

Sure but there are a ton of options to upgrade scoring that don't involve Horvat.
I don't think they can ask for the moon if moving other pieces but if moving the guy they just drafted in the 9th spot and traded their starting goalie for then I can't see why they wouldn't expect to get a huge return back.

I agree that Horvat would likely be the last prospect they were willing to part with.
But you said Monahan + in an earlier post. Even if they were in a good bargaining position, that's a ridiculous statement. And they aren't.

Well I said that in part to illustrate that the Canucks are not moving Horvat unless it is a ridiculous offer to them. It wasn't a realistic proposal that I thought was likely to happen.

Well that was a desperation move and Gillis is poised to make another one.
Plus I didn't say it was a likely return for Cammalleri, just not completely impossible. If Gillis misses playoffs he will be fired and may not work as a GM again, and has been fleeced before in the Ballard and Kassian trades.
He may be willing to do something drastic to get his team into the playoffs. I did say the return was likely the 1st pick or Corrado or Shinkaruk

Don't the Nucks still have a buyout left?
If so there is no way they'd dump a top prospect to get rid of Booth.

I think the buyout window is closed until next season?

Why wouldn't they do this? Kassian hasn't shown anything beyond being a 3rd liner. They've got a short window. I would hope the Flames wouldn't do it... but makes sense for the Canucks.

Because Kassian likely has potential to be more than a 3rd line player in their eyes and isn't worth it to deal for a UFA rental.
I would hope they would do it as it would be a stupid move by them but even if Gillis is desperate I don't see him moving a guy like Kassian that they traded Hodgson for a year and a half ago.
It makes zero sense to me for the Canucks to get softer and marginally better for this year and much worse for next year and beyond.

They do. But they could justify a Booth + 1st for Backlund given that there is no trade market for Booth and a first for Backlund could be spun by Gillis.
