Wasn't it JonDuke, who did the same thing last time this debate cameup? Basically saying he and his wife were thinking of not vaccinating their kids based on "We have questions and concerns, that's all". It's so scary when people treat vaccines that way.

If anyone kids in Calgary have not been vaccinated for Measles especially if they are at the age that they are in elementary school all i can say is why haven't they? It's pretty naive parenting to not have your kids vaccinated.

Can someone explain something to me regarding the vaccines? This might seem like a pretty obvious question but for some reason I am missing something.
If a class of kids has 10 kids in it and 9 of them have the vaccine and the remaining one kid without the vaccine gets measles, how do the other kids get sick if they were already vaccinated?

That seems like a very loaded question that is trying to justify a poor choice.
But unless your child never goes anywhere but that classroom, you are still endangering the children of other poorly informed parents with your disease bag kid.

Ya that's true. I just focused on the school setting since that's where most kids are. For the record, I am not an anti-vaccine nut. My daughter has all her immunizations up to date but I was just curious about how the vaccine vs non-vaccine situation actually worked.

This vaccine discussion is distracting us from more important issues like chem trails.

This is why the vaccination education is difficult. For many parents these diseases have not been known in their lifetimes, so they don't understand the impact. It's by far the most common reason I encounter.
"the risks of not vaccinating are only that my kids gets sick for a bit, and I'm not sure of evil pharma"

Haha, oh yeah, it's all coming back to me. TBQH was the guy who wouldn't outright say "I'm against vaccines", but would instead respond to everything with "Well, what about this, why aren't people talking about this?" for the whole thread.
Last time, he eventually slipped up and started defending the ant-vacciners and expressing his own anti-vaccine views. But before that, he went with the old "Where did I say anything about being anti vaccine" for a while and continued to deflect away from vaccines by talking about food and diet.

What? Piss off.
That discussion was about sewage waste disposal and water treatment and Vaccines as a 1, 2 punch.

Most of the anti-vaxxers I know aren't vaxxing because of Jenny McCarthy, it's because they're in the "evil pharma" camp. Meanwhile, the homeopraxlis that they're using (homeopathic vaccines) is making money for the homeopathic companies hand over fist.. and they're unproven at best, dangerous at worst.

Then you have a situation like mine; where I had what was believed at the time to be a proper vaccination against the measles. As it turned out my vaccination didn't take, and I was at risk.
Now before anybody in the anti-vaccination camp points to my example; the issue was it was almost 30 years ago- and we now have better knowledge about the timing of vaccines on young children.
Having been through the red measles, I wouldn't wish that on anybody. If you love your children; get them vaccinated.

A lot of you come across like militant Pro-Lifers when it comes to vaccines. Instead of belittling parents who choose not to vaccinate why not try to educate them with a rational discussion. Agrgessively calling them morons and bad parents does nothing to change their way of thinking and would most likely cause them to ignore you at best or dig their heels in further.

It's not aggressive - it's just plain and simple truth. Diseases wiped out or knocked down to nearly nil are making a comeback because people got a bee in their bonnet and went super crazy crunchy granola never shave their armpits brush their teeth with straw nutso about vaccines because some yutz said "oh hmm, that bad" and they ran with it without checking anything. All people have to do is look at the rates and it's blatantly obvious. It is moronic not to vaccinate your kid - it's just the plain and simple truth. *shrug*

There are some issues where it is possible to have an intelligent debate where two people, both wise and rational, have contradictory views. This is not one of those issues. Anti-vaxxers are ill-educated lunatics who are endangering the health of not only their children but of society as a whole. They deserve all the scorn and ridicule they receive.
