Lol do you remember what the first thing he said after being fired from Toronto?

He specifically said he wants to be a GM tomorrow if possible. He has said numerous times that his goal is to be the GM of an NHL team. He took this job because it was the next best thing and he knows Feaster was on the hot seat so his chances are higher here than being a scout in Anaheim.

EDIT: To expand, you're about as reliable a source on this subject as Eklund. You're taking quotes from years ago along with pure assumptions on your part and contorting them to make it sound like you have a level of confidence others should be lucky to have.

Why so sure of yourself? You don't know Burke, or the owners, or the situation. You're using old quotes to make your own assumption on what Burke really wants. Unless you're Burke, you should stop pretending like you can see inside his head. It's kind of ignorant.

Unlike you, I'm going to go ahead and base my assumptions off of his recent quotes and his job title. Try to stay up to date.
You need to stop FLIPping out.

You said if Burke wants to truly be the GM of the Calgary Flames he would just fire Feaster. Are you really that obtuse that you believe he'd have the sole authority to do that? Because if so then you are even more out of the loop than I thought.

The owners hired him as Feaster's superior, to manage Feaster and company and ensure a proper direction. If you think that they would suddenly block Burke in favour of the man under him then you should probably look into the way business works. It ain't A&W where your superior is some acne ridden kid named Steve. In actual business, being an authority figure matters, and you aren't generally hired to run all of hockey operations only to "blocked" by the people who hired you when you want to make a move directly in your job description.

But you 100% know right? So do your thing my business savvy fortune teller.

why not be the president? KK was on the radio the other day saying how Burke loved the fact that he is on his own schedule and is doing things the way he wants and doesn't have to travel with the team every trip.

Burke gets all the benefits of being GM - also with probably a larger salary and a bonus and the fact that if Feaster does step down, then he probably comes in.

Also if i'm not mistaken, this is the last year of Wesbroid and Feasters deal.

The only thing I thought when reading this post was "I could really go for a mozza burger"

I'm jealous. They don't have the "Burger Family" menu down here, and they certainly don't have mozza burgers.

You also gotta think Burke has more job security in this position. A GM usually gets to hire/fire 2-4 coaches and Feaster will probably get to hire/fire 2-3 GMs if he wants. I remember Ken King saying Burke could easily be in this job for a decade if he wanted to

Considering the return, Jackman could have been traded at any time over the past year and I wonder if Jay/Burke decided they were tired of seeing Hartley overly rely on the guy and forced his hand by shipping him out? Hartley has used Jackman up and down the lineup and seems to like him and then all of a sudden he's traded for a bag of pucks.

Wait how can you say that Hartley overly relied on Jackman? He played 10 games out of 22? It would be one thing to say the Hartley is overly relies on McGrattan since he has played every game but Jackman?

McGrattan has a role on the team. We know that McGrattan isn't going to score goals but him just sitting on the bench is keeping other players from taking a run at our young guys (I guess Stempniak is supposed to look after himself). Jackman didn't fight and couldn't play an effective game. He was useless on this team and didn't deserve the games he played in.

One could also see it as he was given a bunch of chances and they really, really needed pucks right now.

McGrattan has plenty of potential to score goals. I think, given more ice time and some solid linemates, he could put up a decent amount of points. Remember this?

Yes, we do all know that McGrattan can score goals (he was actually a goal scorer in his junior days) but we don't count on him being a goal scorer. His main job is to be a "deterent" for other teams. My point was that McGrattan's role on the team isn't to score goals (although he can and has scored a few pretty ones in his time). Jackman couldn't score goals (even though he did score) on a regular basis yet was given the chance to play with good linemates and he had a hard time fighting his way out of a wet paper bag. He wasn't good enough to be a scoring threat and he didn't scare anyone because most anyone who would fight could put him down. He was useless on this team.

Ahhh, I thought you meant he wasn't going to score because he isn't able to. Nevermind then!

I do wish he got more ice time though. He does more for the team than someone like David Jones (post injury) does.
