Couldn't put Jackman on waivers without being claimed. Or maybe they had enough respect for Jackman to find him an NHL club to take him and play him instead of sending him to the AHL.
Essentially this is sending Jackman's role to the minors while not exactly sending Jackman himself to the minors. Won't complain too much about this.

Well the Flames would rather have some toughness for their elite AHL team. We would be lucky for a 6th round pick to turn into a fringe NHLer like Lane is

It basically works out to Jackman for MacDermid. Flames also save about 400k real dollars while increasing their cap hit by about 28k.
I don't have a problem with this.

Good to have a guy like him on the farm team. The guys on the heats tend to get beat up everytime they get into fights. And likely they don't want Ferland to be the designated tough guy down there. Team toughness is where it's at.

I agree just saw his weight for a fighter seems pretty light for his height
