The funny thing is that's more of a CP image I think. I actually don't support much of anything that the homebuilders rally for, despite what it might appear on here. I think what's given off that impression is my being unable to not respond to one poster in particular. Like I've said before, maybe in this thread actually, my dislike of that position isn't really the position, but more a function of that one poster and his particular style of posting about one issue over, and over, and over, and over again.
In this thread I have made it somewhat clear that while I don't agree with Wenzel, the secret meeting is a non-factor, as is his support of candidates who align with his business interests. I just don't agree with his position, but that doesn't mean I am against his right to take that position and work to advance it.

It's worth pointing out that the man complaining about being called "the godfather" once called the man he's suing the "dark side". I've got to think that Sith Lord trumps mob boss on the defamation scale.

So he's suing for damages and is then willing to give away the compensation. I think that forces the question, how damaging was the 'damage' done if you can just write it-off?
This makes his claims look even more unreasonable.

Though I have a lot of respect for Sith Lords, I don't really think that Nenshi would be anymore then
Darth Footinmouth.
The Sith Lord that wanders around yelling a lot and all the other good Sith Lords roll their eyes.
I'm not on any side on this, I believe its a lawsuit between two loud mouth twits.
I do believe that Nenshi was very stupid in his comments, and he's earned a bit of time on the hot seat.
I also believe that this was the work of Nenshi the candidate for Mayor, and I would be extremely put out if dime one of city money went towards his defense.
In the oldest saying possible, its Nenshi's dishsoap and now he's soaking in it.

I would love to see Wenzel try to argue in court that Nenshi is in fact a sith lord.
Actually though, this whole thing is ridiculous.

This sums it up perfectly for me ....
I like Nenshi as a mayor, but at times he talks too much .... this is one of those times.

I think it's funny/sad that the first mayor who stands up to the builders/developers who have basically had their way in this city for 25+ years, gets sued.
This, along with their money, is probably the reason Duerr and Bronco bent over for these guys.
. I for one am glad that we have a mayor who isn't afraid to stand up to these bullies.

He's not getting sued because he stood up to the builders, this isn't some heroic little guy fighting a fight against corporate giants in a un-winnable situation. You could argue that Nenshi won the battle here, by winning the election..
But making unproven accusations of a member of the cities business community is going to end up in court 9 times out of time.
Nenshi's being sued because he went over the line, not because of the concept of the fight.

Posts like this one make me realize how little people actually know about what is really going on at the City. Duerr's time is known as "do nothing era", because very little, if anything was done during his tenure as mayor. He shied away from any controversy and was not willing to lead any significant policy changes. Bronconnier was the opposite - he had his own agenda and vision about what can and should be done and he has never shied away from telling developers how he wants things done. All major developments approved under his tenure were precisely to his satisfaction.
Developers and builders don't support political candidates to make them their proverbial puppets, it is just not possible in today's politics. Most of the time they just don't wanna get on politicians' black list.

Nenshi is getting sued because he said something stupid about somebody, unfortunately for Nenshi, that has the will and money to file a lawsuit.

Oh come on. Nenshi called him a bad-name. Nothing more. And now Cal Weasel is running to the court like it's his Mama.
Get over it Cal.
And for a guy who claims "I'm not on any side on this", you consistently take one side and one side only so I don't know who you're trying to fool.

Understating a bit. Nenshi called him a bad name and made allegation of criminal acts.
And I'm on the side of the taxpayers not paying the legal bill for Nenshi.
The rest to me is interesting.
So I'm not trying to fool anyone here.
