Neither do I. I can't believe some posters are bitching about losing a 6th round pick. Once in a blue moon you can get a decent prospect in that round and we still have a 6th so we are slightly ahead of where we were yesterday. No reason to be really up or down with these moves. I think we are slightly better off today than we were yesterday

I've watched a bit of Lane back before he was an NHL player. He's a banger and will fight. He's not going to blow you away with anything he does, but he is decent. Basically it's like getting a bigger Lance Bouma.

and who here doesn't like Bouma? amIright? if our 3rd and 4th lines had a few Bouma types I would not be upset in the least and kind of giddy.

Also, in terms of pick value between ours and Anaheim's is about 0.

You are just as likely to get someone at the back end of the 6th round as you are in the 5th, let alone in the early part of the 6th.

I don't really understand why the pick wasn't something like a conditional 7th.

Functionally there is really no difference between a 6th and a 7th. Actually, if I recall correctly, you have a slightly higher chance of getting an NHL player in the 7th round.

Careful. You're about to have an onslaught of people asking if this should have been in green text or if you're stupid, even though your content is clearly understandable.

They literally wanted to make sure they left you something to complain about.

I'm not a big fan of trading draft picks in a rebuild...
Ward was son the radio this morning and mentioned they lacked toughness...the Flames just called up one of their "toughest" guys...it could be as simple as that.

Not with Feaster.

I bet you several guys in his top 10 fall down to the 6th but maybe not the 7th.

someone's bitter…

Your post was different from Bertuzzied's. He didn't follow it up with a bunch of thoughtful musings on the topic making it seem like the first part of the post was a legitimate thought. Learn from the best on how to make joke posts seem obviously joking. Learn from Bertuzzied.

Exactly...what would the condition be? Conditional to him having both legs when he gets off the plane? It's a 6th round pick.

Ya if this is the case, makes sense. Seems like a decent pick up and upgrade from Jackman. I hope he can at least skate better than Jackman.

That's not how waivers work. Whoever is in last can claim whoever they want. The order doesn't reset after a claim

Getting a bottom 6 NHLer out of a 6th round draft pick is pretty miraculous... especially for this club. With the exposure draft eligible players get due to today's technology, it's highly unlikely a skilled NHL player slips that far.

Here are the 6th round+ notables Calgary has drafted from 1995-2005:

Wilm
Petrovicky
Moss
Pardy
Moen

5/39 = 13%

A 13% chance at drafting a bottom 6 caliber player.

Considering at this point that each of Poirier and Klimchuk seem to be the best players available when they picked, I do not mind if someone on their top 10 list managed to slide to the 6th (we still have one)

Is zack MacKelvie hurt? looks like he's not playing (6 games played), I'd guess they wanted some more muscle down in abbostford. Don't see him putting too much time with the flames.
