do college players even participate? I thought it was just chl players.
As far as I know, they do not. I think that even if they were allowed to, they wouldn't. I don't think any NCAA player is going to disrupt his season and his academics for a meaningless tournament that is just geared for 'testing' for a more important tournament.
I was just commenting on it being a shame that someone who is on the bubble of making that team doesn't really have the opportunity to showcase himself against his peers and playing directly against a team Canada will likely end up facing at some point. I do think players with strong Subway Series performances can move from 'on the radar' to 'strong consideration'.
Yeah what the hell? I've never heard about his skating being a problem. In that prospect camp in July I thought he was one of the faster and smoother skaters.

It's kind of funny, sometimes I think people just make up issues for the dude just so they can keep thinking he's a bad pick. I mean, yeah he was drafted out of high school which was a bit weird, but he's a big guy, a great skater, responsible defensively, he has good vision on the ice, he has great hands and he can score.
On a different note, what do you guys think Janko has to do to get a good look for the WJCs?

Not a big secret I love this prospect, but I think he needs to force himself on the roster. The first couple of games were going towards it, but he has cooled off. I think anything over PPG is forcing his way on. Anything less, and it will come down to how much they like his 2-way game, skating and size. They might see him as a good choice as the 13th forward. Might come down to injuries to some other prospects.
I think Team Canada is scouting him (though probably less regularly as the other kids - not his fault, but you can scout multiple players at the same time in the CHL as compared to scouting in the NCAA for them). He will just simply have to impress them as a complete player that they feel can be thrown out in different situations. He just needs to impress at every viewing Team Canada does - with and without the puck.

I doubt outsiders care that much to do anything close to that with any prospect let alone a guy chose two years ago in the 20's.
That seems to be a huge reach when it seems much more likely someone thought he needed to improve on his skating or that his skating looked better this time they saw him compared to last time.
Just the fact he is on Team Canada's radar is a big acknowledgement how far Jankowski has improved.
Just knowing he is in the conversation with the selection committee is a win for the Flames.
Really wish Providence had a skilled winger to pair with him.
The last few games I have seen, there have been times where he has been open in a good scoring position and his line mates couldn't get the puck to him or just plain didn't see him.
While not a major concern yet, not sure if lack of assists reflect poorly on Jankowski or his linemates, may take a few more games for me to decide. Considering most of his goals were scored by him carrying the puck in by himself or rebounds I am leaning towards the latter.

Yeah, as great as it is to see Jankowski score those highlight reel ones, it's nice to see him standing the front of the net trying to get at loose pucks too.
