Can anyone find how much his ice time has increased since the last time he was scratched? I imagine it's gone up quite a bit.

50 games does not a NHL player make.

Give it a rest. This thread was ridiculous to begin with but now it's actually breeding the thought process of the thread title. 8 points in 18 games for a still-a-rookie Sven is quite admirable especially given all the media attention, some negative, that he has been receiving of late. He's been a difference maker the last few games, let him progress like you're letting Monahan progress.

He's actually fluctuated in ice time pretty much all season leading up to and after the 'benchings' that he's received through out the year and even up to the last few games climbing from 15 against the Avs all the way to 18 and a half against the Stars where he wasn't bad as a -1 but then dipping to just under 14 last game including OT.

Some really good ones in there haha!!

Sven looked like he was in beast mode last game. 3 Jets couldn't take the puck away from him along the boards and he was incredible on the forcheck causing turnovers. If he can play this way he is going to be a hard player to stop.

Calgary Flames want young sniper Sven Baertschi to shoot more

Shoot, Sven!

That’s been a common theme in the Calgary Flames’ video sessions, with the coaching staff encouraging snakebitten left-winger Sven Baertschi to put more pucks on net.

“I had a few opportunities last game where I made the wrong decision. I had second thoughts,” Baertschi said after Saturday’s morning skate at the Saddledome.

“I had the 3-on-1, the 3-on-2 and the 2-on-1, and all three times, I passed. Afterwards, I regret that I was trying to make that pass because I know that I can shoot the puck, too. I’ve gotta get on that path.

“I’ve gotta make sure that when (the pass) is not there, it’s not there. Sometimes — most of the time, actually — the shot is the best play.”

Sure sounds to me like the Flames aren't too happy with the 1 goal in 18 games.

Seriously dude, wtf is your goal here? Of course they want him to score more. There's not a rookie in the history of the game who did everything the coaches expected without being, what's the word, COACHED, as soon as he entered the league.

Are you suggesting there's room for a guy who hasn't played 50 NHL games yet to improve? Or are you suggesting he should already be a franchise player? or do you want him gone? What do you want?

From the quoted portion, it actually sounds like Sven isn't too happy with the 1 goal in 18 games.

I'm suggesting that, at his current pace, he may find himself playing in Abbotsford... but on here talk like that is sacrilege.

Have you watched his last few games? Specifically the Winnipeg game. Or are you just looking at his stats? I'm convinced it's the latter.

On here, talk like that is ill advised, because you focus on only 1 stat and ignore all other stats including any evidence you would have obtained by actually watching him.

Just watch some games, that's all. I'm really not sure why you have to be argumentative and antagonistic when you're clearly wrong.

Though, I do find it funny that you say you trust only Burke and Hartley, but go on to make grand assumptions based on what you THINK Feaster, Burke, and Hartley are thinking based on your own agenda.

Just give it up chum, surely there's something else you could be doing at work?

He's played two dominant games in a row, one of them arguably the best in his NHL career, and got points in both.

You can take the tinfoil hat off now.

I just realized, Sven has one less goal and four less points than Claude Giroux right now.

8 points in 18 games is pretty damn acceptable for a guy who's technically still a rookie...
