Catholic Scholars Brace for 'Da Vinci'
Thought we could use a good religious discussion to take the Flame edge off...
Roman Catholic scholars gathered Thursday to explore whether the soon-to-be-released film version of "The Da Vinci Code" will spread hostile sentiment against the church or provide an opportunity to draw people closer to religion.

So what exactly is a Roman Catholic Scholar? Is that like a Mother Goose Professor, or a Flintstones Lawyer?
A scholar of Bible Fiction vs a Book of Fiction.

A scholar is someone who does just what the word implies...they study. They study endlessly. In the the case of the Vatican Scholars they don't just sit around and read/study the bible. The Vatican, through it's many faults, does what it can to stay current with everything that is going on in the world. They have scholars who specialize in every subject imaginable.

Most excellent. I could make a crack here but I think I offended enough people in the other thread about this. Good on them though as I would guess it isn't cheap to have these guys around.

Oh great Cheese is starting another thread to bash the catholic church. It's been at least a day since he did that, I was getting bored.

Perhaps you should simply skip these threads if they bore you Mr Shantz. Noone here twists your arm to bother with a response.
Yet almost all of these posts get large numbers of hits and responses...so maybe its you that has the problem with the topic.

Maybe if someone is feeling up to it, they can start a Judaism bashing thread. Or maybe one that insults Hindus.
All the Muslim and Catholic bashing is so passé.

I think you're going to be hard-pressed to find a Judaism-bashing discussion among reasonable people in the western world. I think that's still a sore-spot.

I know. And thank goodness for that honestly.
I feel the same standard should be applied equally to all regardless of religion, race, gender, ect. There is no reason to have any bashing ... period.

so do you think or believe that children should be taught that woman was created from the rib of man? Do you think that kids should move on with life thinking that one man built a boat big enough to hold two of every animal?
What of Sodom and Gomorrah? and one last wee thing...do we all want to believe the Earth is only 10,000 years old?
So if we cant agree with any of or part of the above, then why should theists be treated equally? Unless you mean fairly by law, or with the same legal standards you and I have.

I think the message he's trying to get across is more one of tolerance rather than statement that one thing is right or wrong.
