If Sven doesn't start at least getting a shot to the net on those chances over the next few games then he should maybe go back down. No more benching. Send him to the heat who are having success and learn to win again.

Why? He's skating well out there, showing a lot of effort, and it's not like we have anyone better to put in.
What are we going to do move Jackman up?

Lots of people ragging on Sven, sure he needs to start shooting but at least he's doing SOMETHING. Unlike many other players.

Stars @ Flames
I think we should be happy that Sven has had more scoring opportunities this game than last 3 games combined, at least he's getting the puck in dangerous spots, now he needs to just stop getting the yips when he finds himself in those positions.

its not about the team this year, its about Sven long term...in case you haven't noticed this season is a lost cause for the Flames

That is a good point. But we could bring someone up who is playing well and reward them. Anyone would be better than Jackman or McGrattan.

Dallas commentators said it best: "Flames aren't anticipating a single play and the Stars are way ahead of them by the time they realize where the play is going."
NHL game is too quick to react after the play is already happening. Flames just aren't thinking the game very well right now as an entire team.

I agree Sven is scared to shoot as his confidence has been shattered by Hartley and Burke. He is playing well and will gain back his confidence if Hartley actually gives him the ok to use his offensive skills. He is fighting for a spot on the team against Jackman, McGratton, and Jones. Reinhart should be playing instead of Jackman.

I don't get all the talk about Sven. Sure he could shoot more, but at least he's doing something. Meanwhile, we have Colborne that is supposed to be this great guy who Hartley has praised that has hands of stone anytime he has the puck. Yes, he's a big body and can work down low, but when he has the puck, it might as well be a freakin' grenade.

This is why I don't read the game threads lately.

Because we want him to eventually be good enough for the first line, not just good enough to hang around.
It's not about sticks and carrots, it's about helping him grow. He needs to get his confidence back by playing in games where he can make a difference, not by being coddled by Hartley.

Agreed that its a positive to see Sven putting himself in the right spots. If he scores 1, flood gates could open for him.
Im going to go back as I am sure it was discussed but mr ask the ref to step in, spin the bucket in a draw fight was a goof. Lucky he didnt get the penalty for the cross check (despite it being a dive as well) and then luck to not get a penalty for the fight celebration.

It may because we kinda excepted this play from colborne. Sven is his own undoing because of his performance in his emergency call up.

Don't want to bother reading the whole thing, but did anyone else like SOB's move as much as I did? At least he came with some fire tonight and didn't draw an extra penalty.

It sends a horrible message to drop a guy doing so much well to the AHL, if they hadn't been so harsh on him earlier this year I doubt we'd be having this conversation at all.

They are the only line not to be scored against tonight.

Have you considered the possibility that his confidence has been shattered by not being ready to fully play his game in the NHL rather than by bad coaching/management?
