Went to my first live game of the year on Tuesday. Make no mistake, this is an awful hockey team. I guess I wasn't surprised, but I was a little taken aback.

Backlund gets out there with Sven and Jiri for a bit after the second goal and looks really good. Then his regular boat anchors come out and it's back to playing in his own end shift after shift.

I don't get why the angst in all these game threads.
This is what we expected. Who on our team is even capable of stopping players of Benn/Seguin's quality?
I'm thinking Stajan, and Giordano, MAYBE. We don't have the pieces at the moment to compete with legit top lines.
I truly feel like the Flames are trying, but other teams are just matching their intensity and are just better.

Swap Backlund & either Stajan or Colborne. The guy is out there throwing hits, making interceptions & making things happen but he's got no one to play with.
