I didn't want to unfairly disparage the guys in the past, so I went and looked for photos from previous events.

Here's the video from 2008 (this is the year Phaneuf got the hat trick):

So, looking at these, it was usually about 2/3 of the players. A little better than my estimate of one half, but still nothing like this year's nearly 100% (and the only one who wasn't there is injured).

I wonder if this 100% turnout thing has anything to do with Burke. He has been a big advocate of players donating their time and even at points saying if players don't want to get involved they can play somewhere else. I'm curious if he mandated every player to attend, as usually not every single player attends.

Burke did make it mandatory that everyone attends all community events that they are asked to do.
