Ya, I think this season is a write off trade wise for many teams. Which isn't a problem for the Flames selfishly, but for the Oilers it is another cheap ELC year burned off for nothing.

It's essentially their last with Hopkins and Schultz getting raises next season. One more year of Yakupov on his ELC deal, that's really all they have left. I also expect them to make a big splurge in the goaltending market in the off-season, so really that's likely the only move they'll be able to make.

with 6 minutes left, Yakupov has just over 10 minutes of ice-time so far ... good for 9th among Oilers forwards. Igor won't be happy.
btw, I think Arcobello has been one of their best forwards this season .. and Eakins is giving him 9 minutes tonight. Brilliant move, Eakins.

might have been that shift where he stayed out there through 3 centers that did him in

Pretty obvious it was Larionov. TSN was speculating that he was trying to take a grenade for his client, but went about it the wrong way. I still think he was telling the world Yakupov would like to be somewhere else.
