Subban will not be the 7th D.

From moon's list (whick looks pretty good):
I think Eric Staal (for sure) and Dan Boyle will make the team.
At this point, Couture will make it ahead of Marleau.

I sure hope not but I think he will get the last spot be used against the Latvia's and Slovenia's of the world and then play PP against the decent teams.
If they get an injury they can just go to 5 d and if it gets real bad they can throw Getzlaf back there. So they do have some options before having to risk putting PK against real talent.
OIlfan:
Staal was a tough one to leave off and I had him and Marleau as the two guys for that LW spot with the Ducks guys. I went with Marleau having the better year but it was about a 55/45 decision for me.

Seabrook is a right defenseman and I absolutely do not see how you put him on the team when you have right defensemen named: - Doughty
- Weber
- Pietrangelo
- Subban
- Letang
Every one of those guys is better than Seabrook, and only 3 of them can play right D on any given night. If you're putting a guy on the team ahead of Hamhuis, it's either going to be another LD (like Vlasic) or it's going to be one of Subban or Letang.
|
Too much skill players and not enough grind, this isn't a tournament won on paper but one that has to yield as a team and fill out all roles. If Weber gets hurt in the games then I see no one on that list that could step in his shoes and kill minutes on the PK or shutdown minutes in the game. Seabrook needs to be there.

Those were just a mash up of the 13 forwards I thought should be there and trying to find a best fit for each one.

While it's true that Thornton and Marleau spend a lot of time on different lines, they've also spent a lot of time together over the course of their careers.

No you didn't.
You didn't comment on Moulson at all let alone point out how he is a good or average or bad player. You didn't comment on what exactly makes him better than a zero defensive player.
You tried to take a cheap shot at me with your BS always take it to the extreme garbage that adds nothing to thread and is typical of you posting history.
If you have a problem with me as a poster I suggest you take it to PM, ignore the post or actually address the problem you have with what is in the post with actual rebuttal or comments relevant to the thread. It stops these threads from going off the rails with useless comments from posters with a past history of one line posts whining about posters.

Well that is terrifying because there is no way Subban should be getting time 5 on 5 against any of the other big 7 (or is it 6? either way no Switz or Slovakia either). Even on the PP it is a risk with his lack of hockey sense to play him against good competition.

Nope, was just pointing out that Moulson does not have "zero defensive abilities"
Extremes are not needed.

He plays 5 on 5 against top competition on a regular basis and does okay.
Time to admit he's a good defenseman, moon. Not that you will ever do such a thing, although you've already been proven wrong.
Don't worry, I didn't want to do it either.

For defensemen, I think it's important to not have too many guys that are prone to stupid mistakes. Guys like letang, subban, and phaneuf all have great offensive skills but try are all prone to stupid mistakes. In the Olympics, mistakes like that are going to even more costly when facing guys like malkin, datsyuk, and Ovechkin are on the same team. I prefer to have the safer players like seabrook and boyle

I think Benn should be there.
Have some difficulty seeing Staal or Giroux making the team if the roster was picked today.

You guys are doing the defense all wrong.
Doughty - Weber
Keith - Seabrook
Bouwmeester - Pietrangelo
Letang

Ugh.. Seabrook was terrible in the last Olympics. Can we quit giving him a free pass onto these teams because of Duncan Keith.

I don't get all the Subban hate. The guy is a Norris winner. That means he's the best. No one better. Yeah, he's a head case and I'm not a fan of him, but to leave a Norris winner off of the roster is plain stupid if you ask me.

Other than points what does he bring? A bad attitude and stupid penalties?
