Would be a waste I think. The kid can score. 4th in team scoring with 5/5 in 15gp. He's not ready to put up points in the NHL, so he's not ready for the NHL. Let him grow as pro with the Heat. If you've gotta call up someone for the fourth line, call up Ben Street.
Hanowksi needs time, especially considering who he was traded for. He needs to be ready when he gets to the show.

You might be right. I've only really seen him in highlights and in the few games he played in last season. I saw him more as character guy to play on the 4th line and didn't really think he had the speed and skill to be much more. He's also a bit older as he'll be 23 next year. But I'd be happy to be wrong and see him develop into a 3rd line role.

He seems old, but he's a first year pro. He was still in College a year ago. He's the type of player you probably want to bring in at age 24. He's not a first round pick, and I have a feeling it might pay to wait on him. He's 16th in rookie scoring. So he's just a rookie. lots left to learn from Wardo.

Not trying to be pessimistic and keep in mind, I'm a big Hanowski supporter (he was second to Horak for my Calgary prospect love):
I don't think Hanowski will be a full time player with the Flames and will end up getting traded in a package because the Flames feel they have too much depth. I want him to be called up, I want him to play full time, I want him to be a staple on the team but I think there is a real possibility that he will be traded away because of the up and comers we have on the wing. Hano is a LW and if you look at what we have coming up, in addition to what we currently have, I could see him getting pushed out much like how Horak did just because of redundancy and that he isn't one of "our" guys. Calgary didn't draft him, he was acquired by trade and I think the Flames are pushing hard to show they can draft and develop players. Guys not out of Calgary's draft system probably have a harder shake at making it up to the Flames. I think Hano's saving grace could be that he's a big boy, but so is Ferland and if the Flames decide they rather him, I imagine Hano is gone in favour of someone the Flames drafted/developed. Again, this whole depth thing is going to push out alot of players that 2 or 3 years ago, are 2nd line players for the Flames. It sucks because on one hand because we are going to lose more character guys that in the long run, maybe it was the wrong choice, but it's great because we actually are in the position to win some trades trading these guys.
Again, hope I'm wrong. I like Hanowski. I want him to be a Flame.

Redundancy is one of the reasons why I see players like Reinhart, Granlund, Hanowski, Knight, Ferland and a few others (Agostino, Arnold) fighting it out for 3rd line spots, others getting dropped down to the 4th line and some getting traded to fill gaps on defense or in net. I don't think this is a bad thing but with depth comes some tough decisions on who to keep.

Going to be an interesting game on Friday night. Bryzgalov is slated to play his first game for OKC against the Heat.

I wish the Flames would televise more Heat games, especially this year.

I'd guess (relatively) very few call-ups actually (barring injuries)...
I think Russell is more likely to be extended then traded and we've got 8 d-men on the roster already so unless other GM's are burning for Smith/Butler and Breen isn't able to suit up I don't see any D call-ups.
Hopefully the Heat will be playoff bound and I imagine the Flames won't want to cut their chances by gutting their roster so I could see them going with the bare minimum for call-ups and then filling out the expanded roster with Arnold/Agostino/Gaudreau (Hopefully) once their college season is done.

I wish more AHL games were televised period. It's good hockey. This last lockout introduced me to ALOT of good hockey. Czech League is also some great hockey (despite the language barrier) that barely anyone watches.

I actually enjoy watching KHL whenever I can (which is rare). I find the other leagues even harder to watch, though enjoyable whenever you get a chance. Hockey is just a great game, wherever it is being played in the world in my opinion, though of course the NHL is a step-above of course.

With Reinhart back in Abbotsford does Ferland get bumped down, just when he is starting to get hot?

I don't imagine. The last two games Ferland has been playing very well and Ward has been complimentary towards him. Perhaps bumped a line as Reinhart is a better player, but I don't think bumped into oblivion by any means unless he goes out and does something really stupid.

Doesn't the Horak trade still keep a spot open for Ferland whether Reinhart is back or not?
I also wouldn't be surprised to see Breen put on waivers tomorrow, and the Flames recall Reinhart again after he clears. Right now, the Flames have 8 healthy d-men and 13 healthy forwards, where most teams usually prefer 14 and 7.

I don't think he's ready. He continues to play a very quiet game, which is nice for a defender, but as far as I can tell he hasn't risen into a top-2 pairing on the Heat yet, something he should probably do for a full season before trying to defend against NHLers.

I figured a big hanowski supporter would know what position he plays. He's a natural WRinger, and a big one at that. 2 assets the flames are sorely lacking. He won't be traded and we may see him as early as this season.
