Why is Bow Trail between 69th street and 85th street only a 2 lane road? Are there plans to make it a real road since it needs to be anytime soon?

What are Nenshi's "skeletons in the closet"? I only ask because now is just about ideal timing to get them out!

Bunk, I'm reading today's Herald article about Mayor's Urban Design Awards to Avi Urban and on page H4 David Down is quoted saying "Our new city manager Rollin Stanley..." - I almost choked on my toast. I assume this was not intentional and erroneous, but... now I am worried this was more than just a misquote. Is Stanley even in the running for the job?

Wouldn't surprise me if 4 of the 5 current GM's applied for Owen's job.

Who is responsible for clearing snow from of a sidewalk that is in front of abandoned or empty buildings?
The building between Kipling Square and the Bottle Depot on 10th Ave SW (Google indicates the address as being 617 10th Ave SW) seldom has clean sidewalks after a snowfall, and currently appears to be abandoned.*
Who should be contacted to clean up the snow?
311 is useless, because they either don't do anything at all or, by the time they actually get around to investigating, the snow has cleared.
* Last year there appeared to be a photography studio of sorts in the building, although the studio had no signage and rarely had any patrons inside. I can't imagine why the business failed--assuming that it even was a business and not some front for the police.

Hey bunk, I know it got buried in the Rob Ford thread, but can you provide any information on the 162nd/Macleod overpass? I didn't find anything on google and would be very interested in the plans. Thanks!

It's recommended for approval for funding in the ten year capital plan. So pending final Council approval of that plan (I think February) it should be going ahead in the near future. I don't have any information on hand about design or anything like that.

In this case, a good bet may be to contact your City Councillor's Office. ward08@calgary.ca

I have tried to find it this morning but couldnt find anything.
Just wondering if you know or can find out about how long road construction might last.
11 St SE before Portland Rd intersection/CP Tracks before 21 Ave SE.
The road was closed to both N and S traffic this morning and was just wondering if its temporary or will last longer.
Thanks

Hi, Bunk. When will the Administration present its recommendations on how to handle the West Memorial Trunk situation? Would it be at the next public hearing?

It's work being done by the Railroad. But it's only a 3 day scheduled construction. Sometimes weather can affect schedule, but it is only temporary. I understand it's supposed to be completed today by 4pm.

Hmmm, as I understood the approach had been established in September and that was being communicated through various normal channels (CHBA, etc) to industry. Not so?
There will be a capital budget request to Council coming at the end of this month during budget adjustments for the permanent upgrade.

The way I understand it, a budget request will be for the comprehensive solution to the capacity shortage, which is going to be approved in all likelihood without too much trouble. I thought there will be some serious debate/deliberations, either at a public hearing or in-camera, on how to handle existing applications.

Not that I'm aware of, but let's see if it's coming in the next Council meeting.

This is totally the wrong place to ask this, but I'm hoping someone who frequents this thread will know. Are we ever going to get another movie theatre downtown? It seems the Eau Claire redevelopment isn't going to have one. It sucks having to go to Yopville to watch movies.

I'm not sure that's true.
In any event there are several projects competing for a new multiplex in the Downtown area right now.
