I would rather they focused their efforts building a fix to prevent those guys who know exactly how to put it top corner every time. Nothing like losing 6-3, 8-2, etc and having their shooting percentage at 50
Sure it would be nice to have Cammy in the game but its not like he is a very well know player /sarcasm

I hate those guys.
I play online versus occasionally and run into these guys all the time. I can outplay them in every zone, make awesome offensive plays and not score, only for them to skate down, and rip a wrist shot into the top corner from above the circle. Pisses me off. Its not uncommon for the final stats to be 30-14 in shots, 8 mins - 4 mins time on attack, 20-5 faceoffs all in my favor, and lose 5-3...

I played this game online last night, and all it did was bring back memories of frustrations of online games past. Why the hell can you still pause the game multiple times? FFS EA, last time I checked you can't pause FPS games online, so why can you pause a freakin' hockey game?
And why can't players leave the game smoothly and seamlessly like other online games? Why does the game have to pause for 30 seconds each and every time?
Glitch goals still exist. Slow players. Unrealistic checking. Pausing of gameplay. Issues from years past still exist online. I wish I never played last night. All it did was get me riled up and angry.

That's an easy fix - score more times than him and make him watch every single replay - even of big saves.
Only allow one goal against maximum - then use your pause to skip the replay.
Those kind of players end up tilting big-time when that happens and will run around opening up great scoring chances for you.

I just played through a season in Be A GM and none of players progressed or regressed at the end of the season. What's the deal?

No idea. I did the same thing when the game came out and Monahan was still at a 64, played the whole season and he finished with like 50 points and stayed at 64 for the next season. Then I gave up on that mode

Not one of my players progressed or regressed at the usual point in the off-season (following the retirement screen right before the prospect game).
If it is a glitch, or some odd and terrible new feature to the game, I will trade it in now while it is worth something as this is the ONLY mode I play.
I had heard that player progression/potential was broken, and if this is evidence of it then I will bail before I waste more time because EA is notorious for not properly addressing offline glitches/problems.

i just finished a season also. I noticed that the progression/regression was made apparent when it's the re-signing period after the draft....

I had to sim all the way to the following season to see any progression...and it was extremely minimal. No player gained more than 2 overall points. Monahan, with 4.5 gold stars and a 54 point season, gained 1.

argh, ur right, the progression sucks.
at the start of the 2014-2015 season, of all my 2013 draft picks, only monohan is over a 60 OVR (he's at 77 after playing 2 years in the bigs).... klimchuck/porier/kanzig/roy are all 58 or less if i recall.
Also, my 2014 first rounders (s. reinhart, and Dal Colle) are still under 60 OVR a year after being drafted.........
on the other hand, hanowski is a surprising 82, knight an 84, and backlund a 86 (1st line center) at this point.

So is this game any good? I can get is for $15 as a PS+ subscriber but I'm hesitant after having a bunch of bad experiences with most of the latest iterations of the NHL series. I'm mostly interested in the Be A GM mode. If that's not drastically improved, then I won't bother.

The game is definitely better than last years version.
Having said that, I've barely played it at all this year.
For 15 bucks? Yeah, I'd pick it up, just to have a hockey game to play.
Here's something about the GM mode:

I was saddened a little to not buy this game after "NHL day" was something I've happily celebrated for years. At $15 though? Ya I'll take that action.

i got the game after launch to see how it was after skipping last years totally.
i primarily play offline gm mode since retiring from the fatas several years ago.
i have not played the game much as it really hasn't captured my attention. this was my first try at gm mode after the redesigned it for last years game bringing in the system of the potential being based on stars.
overall i am still very frustrated with gm mode. i still am not a supporter of their player progression models. players can have great years and score 100 points and go up 1 overall. i still dont see why the ratings aren't tied to the gameplay. there no longer is the system where after each game players gain xp and once they accumulate enough they upgrade. players still change attributes in the season but i dont think its as easy to track or as transparent.
additionally, i still find trading to be wonky. i have been using the highest difficulty for trades and still the computer can be dumb. in my first gm, i was able to trade franzen and a 1st for hall, eberle, and a first a few seasons later. to me thats just silly. so you can still totally fleece the computer if you want to. conversely, minor trades are still way too hard. for example, i am still trying to work through my emotions of losing the qc flames, so i still pick up the guys that are left in the game. so say i try to get david van der gulik from the avs. the computer makes it impossibly hard to get someone that is totally unimportant. even if i tr and meet the needs of their team so that's its a win win. the computer will be insanely stubborn as if vdg is the key to their playoff hopes or something.
additionally related to trades, trade value is as broken as ever. for many teams their most valuable player will be some 19 year old guy thats rated under 60. the game still over-weighs the combination of potential and age. so even though you may have a forward rated 86 that regularly puts up good numbers, he is less valuable than a recent draft pick that wont be nhl ready for probably 8 years because the progressions are usually ultra slow.
i also still dont find the salary demands realistic. i havent made it far in this years game yet, but there does not appear to be anything different in players asking for weird amounts of money. overall you can always have tons of caproom as players will put up 100 points and ask only for a modest raise. then you have to sometimes trade a guy because he will ask for an insane amount of money. to me there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. it still does not seem as if salary demands are tied to performance either.
overall you will find i am pretty hard on the game. so certainly take what i say with a grain of salt. but i guess i just expect more from the game considering it has been around so long. while i know that its probably an incredible grind for them to have to put something out each year, but they are rebuilding the same game each year, so i don't see why it takes them so long to improve.
i would say for 15 bucks its probably worth a shot. i think if i could go back i wouldnt have purchased it for as much as i did, but would for 15.

Few quick questions, as I'm planning (or thinking) of picking his up soon.
How does player potential work now? Last I played it was letter grades. Now there is something about coloured stars?
If I make a 16 y/o player and put him on a team in the CHL, will I be able to draft him in my Dynasty mode?
In BAP mode, can you play in the Olympics yet?

Yep, it's now coloured stars. It can range from a half star (very poor ceiling) to 5 stars (excellent ceiling). Colours go from red (very unlikely to reach potential), white (stagnated progression, usually happens when a player reaches age 26-27), and green (very likely to reach potential).
So, for example, a 19 year old player with 5 green stars is very likely to become a superstar, while one with 5 red stars has that superstar ceiling but likely will never reach it. Players with white stars can improve, but not by much (they will likely never go from being a 2nd line player to a 1st line player).

Yes.

I never play this mode, but I can confidently say no. Olympics are nowhere in the game as far as I can tell. It would probably require an agreement with the IIHF, and I can't see that happening.

Ever since The 360 came out I've bought every NHL from 07-14 and they still haven't changed the announcers.... I really hope they do something in NHL 15...
