Making no money on hardware isn't exactly a successful business model and it's not like these phones are really going to put a dent in Apple's business. This is more Google realizing that they can't compete with Apple in the hardware business and doing anything possible to get their OS in the hands of consumers even if it means making no profits on the hardware.
Google doesn't have a successful business model?

Looks the like camera quality is a step up from the iphone 5/c with the exception of some exposure issues, but the iphone 5S is still better, especially when shooting with the flash on. Fortunately the exposure issues can usually be fixed by using different camera software or shooting in HDR mode.
The default camera software is slower than the iPhone though taking 1-2s per shot vs about 1/4s on the iPhone in non-hdr mode.

There's only so much the software can do about the camera though. My Moto X updated "Motorola Camera" and the pictures are still nothing to call home about. I still see some truly bizarre choices by the software in terms of focus and exposure. Feel free to prove me wrong on this though, Google.
Guys, like MMF said earlier; let's keep this about the Nexus 5. Android vs. Apple has it's own thread.
Yeah, I actually don't mind the phone comparisons, that make sense. But talking about Google's business model is way off topic. It actually would be an interesting thread but doesn't belong here.

Does look like a great value for the dollar as they rank it as the 2nd best overall cell phone behind the 5S.
Another personal source reporting that Koodo, the only carrier to sell the N4 at the $300 price point, is looking to release at $450 for the 16GB with the usual 'subject to change' tag. Would be a shame for them if they did so.

I tried to buy one from Koodo at that price as a cheap replacement phone for my parents, they wanted $370 since I wasn't a current non-pay as you go Koodo customer. I didn't have a Koodo number to provide them and I tried two different Koodo kiosks and was told the same thing. This doesn't seem that surprising as it doesn't do them any good to stock the phone for people to just buy outright.

Heard Rogers is selling it outright for $500. And $100 with a 2 year agreement.
Which means that you probably will also need to have a minimum $70 premium plan with that.
With Telus I'm sure it'll be around that same given that they are advertising it as part of their share plus plans.

When we bought our first Nexus 4 we had similar issues with Koodo kiosks. We went onto Koodo's website and ordered it directly; just adjusted the tab so we were paying it off in full.

My Nexus 4 still marginally edges my Moto X in term of photo quality. However, the slightly muted and washed out Moto X photos are great for tweaking with Photoshop though.

Hopefully they'll at least have this option in the Share Lite (Telus) or Smart Picks (Rogers) as the Nexus 4 on Telus is available on that lower tier plan for $0 on a 2 year (though that may be a result of clearing stock?) and the Moto X was also bumped down because of the lack of sales I would imagine.
Well, deal with it. I wasn't cheering for Canada either way. Nothing worse than arrogant Canadian fans. They'd be lucky to finish 4th. Quote me on that. They have a bad team and that is why I won't be cheering for them.

I hope too, but highly doubt it. The S4 mini was supposed to be a lite smartphone and Telus is selling it as a premium smart phone, and you can only get it with a $70 or more plan... at least that phone is free though. The S4 outright from Telus is $400. The Nexus 5 is rumored to be $500, so I'm pretty confident that it won't be a part of their lite plans.
I need a new phone, so I'm going to get the Nexus 4 for free, save up and get the Nexus 5 from Google. The 4 can hold me over till it comes, and I get to keep my cheap plan.
TechnoBuffalo did a Nexus 5 vs iPhone 5s review video. The Nexus 5 came out a head in the end for this reviewer but it seemed like a real coin toss. Thought it was just a good review/comparison though because he tossed aside all the specs, OS etc talk and just came at if from the point of view walking in and seeing what they'd want to buy. Not without it's faults but a decent review.

Ordered my Nexus 5 on google play, should I expect it to take the 3-4 weeks it says or are some people getting it early?
