That's the spirit!

I actually think the Oilers might win in Florida tonight. I mean, it's FLORIDA. How sad would it be if they couldn't even win in Florida??

At some point the Oilers will get on a roll and win a string of games. I think the Flames have already had their roll, and the season just goes downhill from here.
The hope of passing a team that's a month into a rebuild, predicted by many to finish last in the NHL, and this is the thing you're holding onto?

Sad state of affairs if that's all you have left to cling to. I'd feel bad if it wasn't so darn funny.

So this is what it's come to for you guys, eh? Hey, before the season started I thought the goal wasn't to finish ahead of the rebuilding Flames, but to finish ahead of a whole bunch of team and make the playoffs? Do you still think that's a possibility or have those goals been altered by Oilers fans already?

The oilers have a chance to be the first team to 60 goals against before any other team hits 50. Building something special.

Truly horrible, but Calgary is second worst in the NHL only to Edmonton.

Calgary is tied with Buffalo and Florida, and is in the same range as Ottawa, Phoenix, and Winnipeg.

All under 50, while Edmonton sits at 59.

Which team managed to be so bad with 3 first overall picks?

This is so like the doomed highschool kid leading up to prom. He starts by asking the hottest girl in school to the prom, she shoots him down and laughs at his Aquaman T-Shirt. So he goes down the chain and asks a semi hot girl out, she says that she wouldn't be caught dead with him. So he keeps going down the chain, to cute to average to fugly, to the chick with a extra head growing in her shoulder, to the freaky girl that likes other girls, and finally settles on large marge the lunch lady. He tells himself, she has to say yes, it'll be my first date ever and that's progress.

So he screws up his courage and approaches her as she's boiling mystery meet in a massive pot. He asks her out, she takes off her hairnet, scratches that boil on the end of her nose, lifts her breasts off the floor and shoots him down.

Once again, he spends prom night at home furiously doing something naughty to the latest radio shack catalog.

So what's the lesson in this story? After 7 years of being out of the playoffs, and to the point in rebuild number 2, even thinking that passing a Flames team in the first year of a rebuild isn't progress and isn't worth bragging about. The Flames are this years large Marge, and the fact that they are ahead of the uber talented omg they're special Oilers is the ultimate embarrassment, if the Oilers aren't in contention for a playoff spot this year or in the playoffs the rebuild is pretty much a failure, and I wish Oil fans luck in the new era of blow it up and rebuild mark 3.

The Oilers should have been focused on a playoff spot, not on where they finish in accordance with Calgary.

Its a sad sad state of affairs in Shelbyville.

If the Oilers lose tonight, they should just fold their franchise

Even the Islanders are laughing at them at this point.

Call me crazy but as much as I Like to see the Oilers lose I don't want them anywhere close to another first overall

probably won't happen but...

You can't seriously think it matters, do you? The Oilers have three of the last four first overall picks in their lineup NOW, and are possibly worse than ever.

Let them pick first overall ad infinitum. It won't make a lick of difference until more significant changes occur in the front office. Even then, it is still a long, LONG time in coming before the Oilers are ever within spitting distance of a playoff date.

Isn't that what we all said in 2010, 2011, and 2012?

They can draft first overall for the next 23 years but Kevin Lowe still doesn't know how to assemble a team.

I honestly had a dream last night where they drafted Sam Reinhart, lol.

The league has to put a stop to this farce. Time to demote Edmonton to the AHL for a while.
